Overwhelmed?

Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, October 19, and provided our best horse racing tips.

It’s Geelong Cup day which aside from being one of the great race days on the Victorian country racing circuit, it has also proven a more than handy form reference for the Melbourne Cup producing an above average number of winners and placegetters for our national race over the past two decades, highlighted of course by the win of Media Puzzle back in 2002.

A great support card on offer there with the Geelong Classic for 3YOs also proving a handy VRC Derby form reference. We have scouted the other states for value winners as we duck and weave the relentless ‘Big Wet’ that is sweeping the eastern seaboard, finding picks at Warwick Farm, Ipswich and a Darwin based horse in Mt Gambier, South Australia.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, October 19.

Warwick Farm, Race 1 – 10. Ring Ahoy ($8.00/$2.50)

Prepared to forgive him on his last start.

Sent out a very short quote on a very heavy track in a small field where he was ridden close and didn’t finish off over a mile.

Comes back to 1400m, gets a drier surface and drawn to suit.

His form prior stacks up here in a race where race fitness looks to be a big plus.

Can atone.

Ipswich, Race 3 – 1. Singer Sargent ($4.20)

Impressive effort on debut at the 1350m.

Looked every bit a miler plus by the way he hit the line there.

Looks to have a bright future which is more than most of these.

Guthmann-Chester stays on. Looked at home in the wet on debut and bred for the same.

Should be charging over the top of this lot.

Geelong, Race 7 – 1. Let’srollthedice ($2.35)

He has been fairly disappointing on paper so far, but given he was running on in the 2YO 1400/1600m G1’s and he is a Dundeel, perhaps we were expecting a bit much of him early on this prep.

Have been warming to the theory he is a Derby horse for a while and you would have to think he will loom as a contender in that race on the back of a win here.

Carries just the 58kg under race conditions which is thrown in given he rates 19 points above the next highest rated horse. Draws well, has miles in his legs, Blake Shinn up and handles wet tracks.

Looks hard to beat on the scores of pedigree, fitness, and class here.

Geelong, Race 8 – 4. Francesco Guardi (N/A)

*This horse has since been scratched.*

Eye catching from last in the Bart Cummings and comes out of a strong form race by way of the Kingston Town in Sydney prior to that.

A Waller trained stayer with a real sense of timing about him who stacks up well here at weights and measures.

Gets Rawiller up who you can be sure will have him attacking the line late.

Genuine stayer set to peak.

Mt Gambier, Race 7 – 4. Kent Street ($13/$3.80)

Top End race fans might be shocked to see this horse appear in their form guides, but I doubt they’d be too shocked to see him win.

Is a tough old campaigner who has performed well in and around some of Darwin’s better cattle including winning a race over the course of the Darwin Cup carnival.

Has plenty of residual fitness even in spite of the let up and I’d suggest the horses he has been competing against over the course of his last campaign are every bit as good as these.

Worth a sneaky play late in the day at odds.
