Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, October 12, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Christmas has come early for Wednesday punters with about as good as a two state racing card as you could possibly expect midweek outside of Melbourne Cup week.

If we’ve learnt anything over the ‘Big Wet’ it is that the glass is always half full, and the one take away from Saturday’s Royal Randwick meeting falling over is, we now have a bumper hump day card as a mouth watering entree to lead in to Saturday’s Caulfield Cup and The Everest meeting.

The Group 1 Thousand Guineas for the fillies is the feature, with succulent side dishes served up in the form of three Group 3 races at Caulfield, complemented by the addition of the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes to the Warwick Farm program.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, October 12.

Caulfield, Race 1 – 1. Rediener ($3.80)

What a better way to kick off a feature race day than backing race one, number one for the ‘W’!

These types of races are never going to be easy, 3YO handicaps over a mile less than a month out from the VRC Derby. But I expect this colt to be winning this, and to be single figure odds in the first Saturday in November 3YO feature.

He’s been really good every time we’ve seen him. The 1400m just found him out on debut. Dominant win 2nd up. And ran a strong race 3rd up against the older horses.

A bit disappointed Ring Ahoy didn’t come out and really frank this last week, but genuine excuses there.

He’s a Redoute’s colt, with speed on his Dam side. He puts himself in his races, and has proven he is tough. A lot to like about him, especially coming out of a barn that has a lot of success with the types.

He’s the best horse in the race, which is why he has the top weight. But that won’t matter.

Just wins the opener.

Caulfield, Race 7 – 9. Great Barrier Reef ($15/$4.00)

Thought D Lane got to pulling at the 600m when he should have been pushing last start behind Giga Kick.

The first two across the line in that race are exceptional, one is going to The Everest! And a poor choice early on has cost this bloke 3L at least.

Subtract that from the margins and he is $1.80 here.

Deep throughout and should have won first up. Then just bullish in his 2nd up win. 2nd and 3rd horses have run well since.

McDonald replaces Lane on a Coolmore colt into a black type race from a good draw at juicy double figure odds.

Will run top 3, at least… Best roughie of the day!

Warwick Farm, Race 8 – 6. Matcha Latte ($11/$3.20)

It has been sliding doors, swings and roundabouts moments between the #3 and the #5 up until now, so it shouldn’t surprise die hards that they both drew 18 and 19 respectively, making this a minefield to navigate.

I still think these pair are the right form to be tapping into as opposed to the Kiwi galloper they have installed favourite, who comes out of probably the worst J.J. Atkins in the last decade.

Park that, line these two up. The 3 has always had the wood on the 5, but the Ryan/Alexiou stable tends to have theirs more forward than that of Mark Newnham, who has had a lot of success in this age bracket in a much shorter time training than Gerald.

Both possess a lethal turn of foot when produced, but we are going to go with the one that has been sparred with kid gloves up until now and is bred for this, as opposed to the up and going type that has been to the well a few times already.

Think the winner will be one of these two, in spite of the draw. Plenty of scratchings helps. And the #5 looks ready to peak.

Caulfield, Race 8 – 4. Boogie Dancer ($3.50)

Have a very healthy respect for a few of these but she is just impossible to go past.

The #3 and the #10 have franked this as genuine form. Not concerned by the #6, the only query is if the Zougotcha form through the #5 is 3+ lengths superior to this?

I think it is very good form, but even if it is, I don’t think the horse that brings that formline to the page can run a mile.

That just leaves her the best of good things.

I don’t like declaring them with that much confidence in a G1 but much like Golden Mile on Saturday, it just looks a put in, take out job.

We are going with her as the best of the day, in the best race of the day.

Warwick Farm, Race 9 – 4. Mars Mission ($2.30)

Another who is drawn badly but again expect a few to come out of this along with the track being well worn along the inside by this stage of the day.

He is a very smart horse, ex colt now two stone lighter, who should just be too good for these.

They played around with him last campaign trying to stretch him to a mile as well as chase black type. Gelded, and onsold. The short course stuff is his go in life and expect him to be a stakes grade sprinter going forward.

The 3kgs off is a big help. Has trialled super leading into this and I doubt the draw will be a hindrance late in the day.

He’s our best on the Sydney card.
