Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, March 1, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Autumn has officially arrived, and whilst this set of midweek meetings couldn’t even be used as a taste test of what is to come, they each stand up rather well in their own right.

We lucked out on Saturday with a rare duck egg from our five selections on the back of a white hot period where we were running at 75% for the week leading in.

The hybrid Lakeside/ Hillside two winning post meeting laden with feature races proved trickier than anticipated in Melbourne, whilst we found a 2YO filly that had probably had enough in Sydney, and a bonny 3YO mare in Zougotcha who was just a half a run short first up.

That is the nature of the beast however, and we are expecting to bounce back at ‘the midweekers’ here betting on a more known product with the rail in the True at Warwick Farm and Balaklava, whilst we find it in a fairly standard +3m position at the Lakeside circuit, with all three venues projecting a positive weather forecast.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, March 1.

Warwick Farm, Race 2 – 1. Gago ($2.90)

Big action Zoustar gelding who wasn’t suited by the inside draw or the Canterbury circuit last start.

Draws more favourably here, on the bigger circuit, and gets a nice claim for in-form apprentice of the moment Zac Lloyd.

Just needs a patient ride, and to get outside of runners with plenty of galloping room, and he can break through here.

Balaklava, Race 2 – 13. Pearl Adios ($2.60)

Found the line strongly 2nd up at 1200m at Gawler before being taken to town and dragged back a long last where he was again eye-catching late over 1300m.

I think the rider over did it last start, but they are going to have to go back again here from the wide gate although the roomy Balaclava circuit, the step to 1400m and the re-engagement of Jason Holder should be enough to negate all of that nonsense.

Has race experience, and has campaigned at a higher level to most of these at his seven starts to date. Hard fit 4th up and looks ready for 1400m.

That’s enough. Looks very hard to beat.

Warwick Farm, Race 3 – 9. Smooth Sailing ($6.50/$2.20)

Strikes a solid metro BM68 midweek race here stepping out of a debut win in a Nowra maiden, but it was hard not to be impressed by the turn of foot she showed to score there.

It’s never an easy task to go from a maiden win to winning your next start, just as it is difficult to go from a win in the bush to a win in town. And to do both is rarely heard of. But she does look better than most.

Strong support in early betting, the rider and stable combine well, drawn to suit and the step to 1300m looks ideal.

Best roughie of the day if they haven’t already knocked the price off.

Sandown, Race 1 – 3. Forever More ($4.60/$2.20)

Impressed at the trials and jump outs prior to debuting.

Got back last there over a 1000m before producing a withering finish.

Goes to 1200m here against some horses with metro form but if she can land a bit closer here from the good draw, and can replicate that run home on the roomy Sandown circuit, she will go very close.

Childs aboard is a plus. Looks a nice value play.

Warwick Farm, Race 6 – 3. Headwall ($2.35)

A rematch here for half the field.

I found it hard to split Lascars and Headwall last time they met. Both victims of ordinary steers there, and whilst we leant toward Lascars on that occasion, I’m now convinced Headwall is the more genuine of the two runners, and is certainly ready to win this 2nd up.

Held up for a large part of the straight, then attacked the line strongly late. Like the fact Matty Smith stays at 1000m.

Very talented galloper who was the clear run of the race of this bunch last time out.

Will account for these and continue to build on his record.
