Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, July 5, and provided our best horse racing tips.

It’s nice to see some solid midweek fields around the country even though the calendar month would suggest we are very much into racing’s ‘offseason’.

The highlight looks to be the strong QTIS 3YO Maiden at Eagle Farm which compliments a quality card at that venue, whilst we get back to Sandown in Melbourne where there is plenty of cattle going around that wouldn’t be out of place in Saturday company.

And in Sydney, we get the Kensington circuit, albeit with the rail in the true, but every chance we might be on a downgraded track by start time so tread with caution there as anything could happen on a wintery inside circuit that is rain affected.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, July 5.

Eagle Farm, Race 1 – 2. Beautantes ($5.50)

Happy to go with the well related son of Spirit of Boom here.

Jumped brilliantly on debut and was still there late over the 1050m despite being a little keen at stages throughout the run.

Drops back to 1000m here, with plenty of speed to cross them and the +10m rail on the well wintered Eagle Farm circuit will most likely suit the on pace gallopers.

The Kendrick pair have both trialed well leading into this but they might be spotting this fellow too much head start around a circuit that could prove tricky to make ground on.

Sandown, Race 2 – 2. Botany ($5.50/$2.15)

She’s always shown plenty of ability, although she can mix her form. We’ve been the victim of that in the past, but she does look to be finally in her right firing range now; 2000m+, midweek grade, fit, and on a track with a big run home.

It was all over mid race last start at Mornington when the leader had it all her own way. She did well there chasing home a much more seasoned mare who enjoyed a soft lead.

That was her first go out to a decent staying trip and it looked like it suited.

She can win here, and start to pick off better targets.

Eagle Farm, Race 2 – 4. John Rambo ($1.50)

Chased strongly right to the line on debut behind the well supported stablemate Simbu.

They dual accepted on this card, both 1200m maidens but have elected to take on the open aged race as opposed to the lucrative QTIS 3YO race.

They drew well in both, but they must fancy their chances here, particularly knowing there was a margin to 3rd behind a handy one of their own last start.

Going with this gelding as the best of the day.

Kensington, Race 2 – 10. Speymalt ($5.50)

Going with the Snowden filly here after a strong debut.

The Godolphin filly Pereille did look well held in a recent trail behind her, then flew home in a subsequent outing. It shapes as the biggest danger but has had plenty of chances, too many for my liking, and appears to have a phobia of the winning post on race day.

The Dave Pfieffer trained Forgotten Goddess flew late from last on the turn this track and trip out of the same race Speymalt debuted in. She draws better and does look promising but I think the Team Snowden runner still has her covered at this stage.

Be very surprised if the winner doesn’t come from them three but fairly confident we’ve pulled the right rein with our top pick.

Eagle Farm, Race 3 – 11. Kai Tak ($3.40)

Jack Bruce looking to spoil the party here with one of the few non QTIS eligible horses in a race that carries a handy bonus.

Fairly negative ride first up in which he found the line well from last weaving inside of runners late to finish second, good margin to third. Then just ran into a long overdue, hard fit Landsborough Lad who was off and gone with the shades on first time, again making solid ground late.

Third up here over 1200m at Eagle Farm after runs at 1050m and 1200m at Doomben. Tough race but looks primed and a very backable price.
