Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, December 21, and provided our best horse racing tips.

It’s hard to believe, but this is the second last metro Wednesday card of the calendar year.

The quality is spread a little thin with meetings being held anywhere there is a race club with a spare function room and someone who wants to open a bar tab it seems. But unlike those sculling free champagne, filling their faces with canapes, and playing Secret Santa, we haven’t mentally checked out for the year and are still hard at it trying to find you winners.

A couple of really nice picks that we have made our two top selections in Sydney at the Warwick Farm meeting, whilst we have speculated on a couple of wider priced picks at Eagle Farm and are looking to round out our day with our ‘best roughie’ in the form of a filly ready to bounce back in the last at odds at Sandown on the Lakeside circuit.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, December 21.

Eagle Farm, Race 2 – 7. Anatini ($10/$2.80)

Thought she did a good job when resuming under Cahill.

Unwanted in betting there, she got back last and hit the line well.

Bounced out too well last start and landed three deep early. Rider reported she didn’t handle the track on that occasion.

Gets to Eagle Farm here, out to 1400m, with Cahill back on. Middle of the row draw.

She can breakthrough here with the right ride, and is sure to be a price.

Warwick Farm, Race 3 – 4. Fielding ($3.30)

Big gross bugger who should have been awarded the race first up. Especially given what we saw with the Mr Wallce protest last week.

That is little consolation to punters (and tipsters) who found him at a nice price that day, but stick here and you will be getting a result.

The bookies got it wrong when they put their prices up, and punters were quick to react with the Beer/ McDonald runner who is an out and out wet tracker going straight on the drift, whilst the smarties came for this bloke.

He is honest, even though he still doesn’t know a lot. He has been a victim of poor rides, and a poor decision by the stipes last start. His record should be a lot better.

Zac Lloyd appears to get on with him though, and his 2kg off is very handy here.

Can atone.

Warwick Farm, Race 6 – 6. De An Andretti ($2.60)

Ripper mare with obvious soundness issues. Just the two starts to date. She is rising 5YO in the new year. And she really needs to start putting her best foot forward on the track. And this campaign might be the one.

Buoyed by the fact they got two trials into her this time in. They have done that in the past, and not made it to the track. But unlike before, she has been ridden a lot more conservatively and they haven’t bottomed her out, as she is a horse that can run some serious sectionals.

Finished second in a recent trial where she ran home 33.07 on the bridle. She lengthens about as good as you’ll see, especially for a horse you are finding in a restricted grade race of a Wednesday.

Andrew Adkins is her stable rider, and she does everything right in transit so barrier one is no concern. She should get a dry surface, and provided it is playing fair, she would only need even luck in running to run them down.

Not sure how many runs she has in her, but the fact she has got to this stage with a bit up her sleeve, she is worth a decent bet first up in this grade.

Absolutely a stakes grade mare if she stands up to a full prep.

Eagle Farm, Race 8 – 5. Military Gambler ($3.50)

Not the easiest race with plenty of last start winners, but it is hard not to be taken by this horse’s recent efforts.

A good thing beaten two back when deep throughout and had it pinched off him late by a horse that had done no work, railing back underneath him.

Then he was just too good for them when a short price last start.

He will need to bring the A game to this, but he is hard fit now, four runs in, last two out past a mile. And has been a model of consistency as he has worked through his prep.

No shortage of challengers but he is honest and looks primed to peak here.

Sandown, Race 8 – 13. Birdies Galore ($7.00/$2.50)

Pulled out a terrific run around The Valley resuming, indicating she was set to run a race 2nd up.

Blew out the gate in the betting late, and was absolutely carved up by Michael Dee facing the breeze throughout.

Apprentice rider takes over here who couldn’t ride him any worse than the senior rider did even if he tried. She comes back to 1200m from a draw where they are probably going to have to hold up and come with one run. I think that suits her.

That was her only unplaced run to date last time out, and the betting indicates perhaps she may have been off her game before she left home that day, which is not uncommon with young fillies.

Forgive her that, and take a chance on her here to bounce back at odds. She is much better than that.
