Overwhelmed?

Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, August 31, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Punters rejoice! The last meeting of Winter before Spring. And whilst we lucked out on a tricky stakes laden card on Saturday which saw plenty of the stars of the up and coming season resuming, we certainly had our eye in at the midweekers last Wednesday finding three on top and our ‘Best Roughie’ of the day going down by just a length first up at juicy each way odds.

All the better for the run last Saturday, and looking to tap into our good form from last Wednesday.

The fields served up certainly suggest that a repeat performance could be on the cards with handy fields lining up at Warwick Farm in Sydney, on Sandown’s Lakeside circuit in Melbourne, whilst we think we’ve found a lock late in the day at Ipswich, west of Brisbane where they hold their metropolitan meeting. All told, it looks an entertaining day of midweek racing.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, August 31.

Warwick Farm, Race 1 – 4. Rediener ($13/$3.70)

We are hoping we set the tone here by declaring our ‘Best Roughie’ of the day play in the first race at Sydney.

Here we have a Redoute’s colt out of a mare that was stakes placed at 2yo. With the benefit of the upgrade in pedigree by the champion sire, you would think this fellow has the right kind of breeding to be angling toward some of the better races for Spring 3yo’s.

Really liked his two trials. The first in smart time late in the day out of a session that is producing winners. Should have won his second trial but was flattened when commencing a run which would have seen the rider of the leader get a holiday under race conditions.

Interesting engagement of Nash here who has been poor of late by his lofty standards but you can be sure he will be looking to make the most of every ride at the minute and may even be sounding this one out for a longer term race like a VRC Derby? Waller, first up, 1400m, 9 weeks out from that race. There’s a definite smell about it.

Worth an each way ticket.

Sandown, Race 2 – 5. Foxy Cleopatra ($3.90)

*This horse has since been scratched.*

Beautifully bred and cleverly named debutant here by Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah out of a sister to Group 1 winner Foxwedge.

Plenty would have her in their blackbooks on her trials and jump outs where she has let down very strongly.

Early favourite Moko has stakes form but expect they’ll come for this Busuttin and young filly.

She has settled and attacked the line strongly in her exposed work to date. Bred for this and further. From a good barn with a good hoop from a good draw.

Plenty of positives.

Warwick Farm, Race 3 – 2. Decadent Tale ($4.60)

Bit of a no-brainer to go with Boyszee on top but I think the second top weight, the mare Decadent Tale has a legitimate case here.

Just a lack of experience riding the Kenso circuit last start from the apprentice on a horse stepping out in trip. But he wouldn’t be the first rider to be bought unstuck by that track. Or J-Mac.

Just got left flat footed when Macdonald took off. Should have finished a lot closer. And gets the weight relief to overcome that margin here.

The favourite is a very dour type, who races best on heavy ground, and certainly susceptible to being out-sprinted by one with a turn of foot on an improving track.

This girl has that, evident by her three straight wins around the 10 furlong mark prior to getting caught out last start.

Dylan Gibbons is a handy rider, who I’m sure will learn from that mistake. And Warwick Farm plays a lot fairer than the Kensington track.

Can knock the favourite off.

Warwick Farm, Race 6 – 1. Nasturtium ($2.10)

Four starts, three wins. Two trials this time in. First was 2nd to Shades of Rose who won by half the straight on Saturday, and the second was the clear fastest of the morning.

His only defeat has come at the end of his prep, by Mazu, however that was on a Soft 6 which this track is currently rated.

Positive enough forecast to suggest that the track won’t be any worse than that.

Jumps well, has speed to burn, claims 3kg from a more than capable apprentice, draws 1. Looks very hard to beat.

Best of the day.

Ipswich, Race 7 – 1. Nishikori ($4.00)

He has to lump the 60kg here but there is a good reason for that. And that being that he is better than the rest of them.

Racing in great heart winning a Class 4 last start and there’s nothing in this that has that quality that is in form or at the right trip.

Should get a good track again with only light rain forecast. Gun draw and in form rider in Brodie Loy.

Looks a nice anchor to round out a hopefully profitable day.
