Free Horse Racing Tips - 24th Aug

Overwhelmed?

Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, August 24, and provided our best horse racing tips.

You can anticipate being in for a tough day at the office when you look through the list of venues and find the Kensington track at Randwick in Sydney, the Lakeside circuit at Sandown in Melbourne, and the tight Ipswich circuit west of Brisbane are your punting venues for the midweek meetings.

That is where we are heading, along with Gawler in South Australia where hopefully we have taken the hard work out of it for you and can find you some value.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, August 24.

Ipswich, Race 2 – 7. Third Time Round ($2.20)

Not exactly sure our sworn enemy Landsborough Lad is the ideal form to be tapping into, but if nothing else, he has been a solid benchmark for what you need to do to win a maiden over the last two months.

This ex-Kiwi mare took up her customary on-speed role at just her second start for Gollan since crossing the ditch. And she was not only gutsy enough to hold him out, but really lifted late.

Hard to get carried away as we suggested, but it was a nice win, and she has plenty of scope to get further.

No knock on her racing pattern here coming from Doomben to Ipswich which favours on-pacers. Benny Thompson sticks and she should get the outside lead spot at worst.

Can go on with it.

Kensington, Race 1 – 2. Great Barrier Reef ($4.60/$1.90)

This lightly raced colt is worth having something on if the each way price holds up on.

Debuted in the Canonbury behind the eventual Golden Slipper runner up. He was outclassed that day, but put in an honest performance and typical of one of Waller’s, he will only get better at 3YO.

Tongue tie goes on here, and McDonald sticks after a very nice recent trial.

Anyone’s guess as to how this track is going to play in the first with the rail at +4m and rain forecast throughout Tuesday. The wide draw may well be a help rather than a hindrance.

Wide open race but expect he’ll be finding the line late at an each way price.

Sandown, Race 2 – 13. Bors ($14/$4.00)

He was good to us when we declared him at a mile his last start before his break so we will chance him here first up at 1400m as our ‘Best Roughie’ of the day.

And it is probably not the worst idea to be specking a few of these handy types that are wider in the betting that B Shinn is going to pilot over the next few weeks.

He hasn’t been back quite a week yet, but with limited opportunity so far he’ll be absolutely desperate to stamp his mark back on the Melbourne scene.

Whilst his HK stint wasn’t exactly flattering by his standards, the former Melbourne Cup winner is, on talent alone, as good as they come. I think Melbourne is his right fit. And he could do a lot worse than picking up these types of rides for Waller and Orbis Bloodstock.

Fastnet Rock can throw just about anything you ask of him but it is a fact he has surprisingly thrown some handy slow maturing types.

This fellow only just won when he got to that mile race, but he was never going to get beat. And that win, plus a short break might have brought him on enough for him to put this lot away and then head to town on a Saturday.

Kensington, Race 2 – 2. Zou Tiger ($2.40)

Pretty hard to go past this bloke on exposed form.

Led on debut in atrocious conditions before being run down over the final 150m by the recent G2 Silver Shadow winner. Big margin to third. That horse has won since.

Drew well at his next outing but somehow ended up 3 deep for most of it from barrier 2 under Clipperton.

Quiet hitout on the all weather his first trial, then given a proper hitout by McDonald his next outing and was eye catching to put it mildly.

J Mac stays on. The track is anyone’s guess with Tuesday’s forecast but he does seem adept on all going. And the fact he’s drawn off a touch may not be the worst thing.

It is very hard to look past him as the best of the day on exposed form.

Gawler, Race 3 – 1. Alpine Fun ($3.70)

This looks a nice race for the McDonald and Gluyas filly here.

Didn’t show much last preparation but produced a solid run first up this time in after a good break.

She did everything right on that occasion, settling in the run before boxing on solidly which tells us she should be able to overcome the tricky draw and will run the 1200m right out.

No concern in the ground as she’ll most likely strike a very similar surface to what she raced on last time, and buoyed by the fact that Holder stays on, who has had a look at a few of these in the past.

She looks the one to beat.
