Free Horse Racing Tips - 23rd Aug
Tue 22nd August 2023
Overwhelmed?

Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, August 23, and provided our best horse racing tips.

It’s a bit of a comedown heading back to a few graveyard midweek venues with moderate fields after what we were treated to on Saturday, but we can expect that to be the case over the coming weeks and months as we duck and weave through the final rounds of August and steel our sights on a rematch with the Spring Carnival.

The good news is, there’s at least one here, possibly even a couple of others, that can be expected to feature in some stakes races in the near future.

Very keen on our good thing in the opener at Randwick’s Kensington circuit whilst there looks value at various stages later in the day on that card. We’ve yet again found one that is overdue but looks to have found his right race on his right circuit at the Sunshine Coast.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, August 23.

Kensington, Race 1 – 10. Makarena ($4.40)

Was fairly certain I would be tipping Mexico off the nominations in this but the more looks I had at the trials of this Team Hawkes filly, the harder I found it to go past her.

Lovely big striding chestnut by Snitzel, she was very hard to miss in both her public outings, absolutely motoring home late.

She draws soft here, down on the minimum and she gives the impression the 1100m first up will be no problem.

Nominated for all the major 3YO races. Expect a forward showing.

Wouldn’t be perturbed by the trials of Mexico. He is a handy galloper and was hard held in both of those. They are much better than they read on paper. Top weight and poor draw. Happy to see in this but has a future going forward.

Kensington, Race 2 – 8. Supreme Command ($31/$6.50)

Not suited by the conservative ride last start when stepping to the 1500m.

Draws sticky here and comes back in trip so I expect they’ll revert to more positive tactics.

Didn’t have much luck down the running last start and that was a reasonably strong maiden.

Is better than what we saw there and can turn things around here at good odds.

Kensington, Race 6 – 6. Glacier Queen ($10/$3.30)

Scratched multiple times leading into her first up run at meetings where she drew bad.

Had trialled strongly and opened early favourite before being unwanted late in betting.

Very negative out of the gates, looking straight for the fence in spite of a respectable draw. The rider then got a mile off them before failing to show any real vigour in the run home even when the rail presented itself.

Draws well here, hungry and in form apprentice hoop up, and she has run some good races on this surface before.

Expect a much more competitive effort 2nd up.

Sunshine Coast, Race 7 – 3. Esky (TBA)

Stepped to the mile after a month between runs and appeared a touch disappointing on paper.

Copped nothing but horror draws in that month off and was scratched multiple times as a result. Subsequently raced like a horse in need of the run last start.

On the 10 day back up into this. Stays at the mile. J Orman. Big track suits. A lot of positives.

Has been frustrating but expect a much better showing here.

Thought Baltray was a poor ride last time out. Draws bad but J Stanley to pilot. Always goes around at a price. Worth saving on at good odds.

Kensington, Race 7 – 9. Disneck ($3.20)

Talented 3YO gelding from the Bjorn Baker yard who has been set some tough tasks to date.

Showed early promise then spent the rest of his time as a 2YO in stakes company.

Can be forgiven for a few of those runs.

Spelled, two trials. The first where he ran 2nd, well held outside a horse that was ridden right out.

His next, a strong effort, settling in behind them and cruising past them late to record a win in smart time.

Hasn’t raced on the Kenso track so some query there but his racing style suits. Hopefully an improving surface. And sharp enough to win over the 1000m. Rachel King knows him inside out.

Go well.
