We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, August 16, and provided our best horse racing tips.
We are like an expectant parent at this time of year, waiting for Spring to arrive.
Not a lot to write home about at this stage, but we think we have picked the eyes out of the meetings around the country and found you a few winners all the same.
We have Gawler, Eagle Farm and Canterbury covered for you this week as we march forward toward the warmer months and the healthier looking tracks but we are expecting dividends all the same until then.

Eagle Farm, Race 1 – 6. Island Tide ($6.00/$1.90)
Stripped down and cleared out at first run for her new barn.
Showed enough there, plus in her trial to suggest she’ll be winning races.
Drops back to 1000m, KWT sticks from a good draw.
Going to be very hard to catch.

Canterbury, Race 1 – 4. Dimitrov ($4.40)
A nice debut on the Kensington track where he appeared to fail to negotiate the tricky bend before picking himself up and getting going again late.
The winner of that looks handy with form around Don Corleone last prep and the smart Encap first up. And the second horse is going straight to a stakes race on Saturday.
Draws inside here with the rail in the True position to help guide him around and the step to 1200m suits.
Tricky affair but looks above average and sure to have benefited from the race experience.

Eagle Farm, Race 4 – 7. Pinkus ($7.00/$2.15)
Talented galloper, trialled super leading into this prep but just found out on the score of fitness first up.
Given an absolute bath 2nd up by Orman.
Is a lot better than that.
Has started favourite its past two but expect he will be attractive odds today.
Can atone.

Canterbury, Race 4 – 9. Atlantic Ocean ($3.30)
Steps to the 1250m 3rd up here after chasing the smart Stromboli home 2nd up over 1100m.
Drew bad that day, gets a better gate here and McDonald sticks.
Good enough to account for this moderate bunch.

Gawler, Race 6 – 1. Aikhal ($6.00/$2.25)
A 5YO gelding having career start number five and third start for a new trainer.
Rider failed to obtain a spot first up but the horse still boxed on gamely behind what looks a handy type. The winner there has placed in town since.
Then just too good when a short quote 2nd up.
Meets a thin field here. Tricky draw but stays at 1200m, hard fit, and has a bit of dash about it.
