Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, April 5, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Day 1 of The Championships caught plenty off guard with an unpredicted sour turn in the weather that looks set to continue this week throughout Sydney. Unlike Saturday however, we have been able to see this heavy track coming and have worked around it in our selections, highlighting horses that certainly give the impression they will handle the going, dodging a few that appear they won’t, and tapping in to a few that have wisely headed to opposite points of the compass for precisely the reasons mentioned above.

A good thing plus a couple of nice value plays at Hawkesbury on the heavy ground, then we head to Ipswich west of Brisbane in QLD and to Ballarat in the Victorian Highlands where we are anticipating fine weather for both.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, April 5.

Hawkesbury, Race 1 – 5. Tiz Invincible ($2.40)

Covered more ground than Burke and Wills when she debuted in the Group 3 Black Opal.

Gutsy effort to box on for 4th.

There doesn’t look to be any superstars in this. Of the two last start winners, Californian looked horrible trying to negotiate the corner here when winning on debut and still has plenty to learn. And the Godolphin horse never went around a runner.

I dare say this filly has more upside than most of this lot, plus 2kg off her back for Zac Lloyd, makes her the one to beat.

Ballarat, Race 1 – 2. Critique ($3.30)

Speedy customer from the Waterhouse/ Bott operation that comes out of a very strong Sydney maiden.

Just dwelt and did a bit to get there then got a bit keen in his debut.

Run down with 150m to go but kept boxing until the final 50m.

He was stepping out from a couple of 750m trials straight to 1100m there and the first two home are very smart with the winner claiming the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes on Saturday.

Stays at 1100m, and it looks like he’s dodged the rain by heading south. Has the benefit of race experience.

Hard to beat.

Hawkesbury, Race 6 – 2. Rediener ($18/$5.50)

A very capable gelding when right.

Advanced from midweek grade to warrant a look in stakes company last campaign.

Far from disgraced when he ventured to Melbourne, then had probably had enough his last run.

Got back and didn’t have much go right when resuming but lengthened out nicely late.

Comes back from 1400m to what will be a testing 1300m in the heavy ground. Untried in that going but appears capable on the soft and sure to have stripped fitter.

He is 1 from 1 2nd up. And they have a couple of options from the draw depending on how this track is playing by this stage of the day but I think he does his best racing when he races handy. Moreira to steer.

Shadows Of Love looks hard to beat on what she has done her two runs this time in, but was well beaten as favourite her only go on a heavy track, she steps out in trip for the first time, and runs into some handy gallopers here.

Looks a sneaky each-way play.

Hawkesbury, Race 7 – 12. Queen Yuna ($5.50/$2.15)

I like what I’ve seen of this mare.

Very strong win 2nd up to break her maiden and it is not unlike this barn to throw them in the deep end and enjoy success.

The stable is in the midst of its best run for a number of years and may have unearthed a handy galloper here.

She was very dominant last start, and I imagine they’ll adopt similar tactics here and most likely look to roll into better ground for the short run home.

She stays at 1300m, gets in just a kg over the minimum, and there’s enough on her pedigree page to suggest she’ll get through the ground.

Think she will give a fair bit of cheek.

Ipswich, Race 9 – 1. Allusionist ($5.50/$2.15)

Strong winner at Gosford resuming, then just ran into a couple of strong races around the promising Headwall his next two, three deep the second time.

Great ride from Loy from the bad draw when they shipped him to Doomben last start. Loomed like the winner. The step from 1000m to 1200m just cost him there, peaking late and going down a tick over half a length.

Gets another look at 1200m here on a good track with and with a number of emergencies drawn under his neck, he should come into a reasonable draw.

Racing in great heart, should go well.
