Free Horse Racing Tips - Melbourne Cup
Mon 6th November 2023
Overwhelmed?

Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Tuesday, November 7, and provided our best horse racing tips.

From the nation’s capital to the Top End, we have you covered right across the country on Melbourne Cup Day 2023. Oh yeah, and we’ve also included our tip in that race that stops the nation.

We head to Flemington, Darwin, back down south to Kembla Grange, and then across the Great Dividing Range to Canberra for what is poised to be either the get out stakes or an all in late plunge through some bleary eyes come almost 7pm on the first Tuesday in November.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Tuesday, November 7.

Flemington, Race 2 – 1. Pounding ($4.20)

Happy enough to stick with Pounding to bounce back here.

His first two runs this time in were excellent. He just gave the impression there that he was looking for a bit more ground.

Tough run facing the breeze throughout in the Epsom. Then raced a bit flat back in Melbourne in the Toorak on a fortnight backup.

Caulfield never has really been his track. I feel he does his best racing at Sandown and here, and was a 3rd last time he stepped out at Flemington in the Group 1 Australian Cup which lines up pretty well for a stakes race 5th up at 1800m.

Three weeks between runs, I think he’ll prove a bit too sharp for these in spite of the weight, and will leave a fast finishing Forgot You with just a bit too much to do.

Flemington, Race 7 – 7. Absurde ($9.00/$3.00)

Be remiss of me to give out a set of Cup day tips and not at least have a throw at the dart board in the big one.

It’s far from the spectacle it used to be punting wise, but it will always be the race that stops the nation.

Absurde looks the right horse to be bringing down here for mine. He has the right combination of stamina with enough dash left in his legs.

Nice win in The Ebor which has been a sound form reference in the past. He finished runner up to stablemate and favourite Vauban at Royal Ascot in June. And even though the margin was decent there, they both drop in weight considerably for this, with Absurde sure to benefit from a 2kg swing in his favour down at the 53kg.

He partners with Zac Purton who would be desperate to taste success in this race back on his home soil.

They are a shrewd bunch the Irish and we only have to think back to Vinnie Roe and Media Puzzle to remember them coming out here and talking up one charge only to land a plunge with the lesser known stablemate.

The market would suggest something similar might be afoot here.

Darwin, Race 4 – 9. Aplomado ($41/$7.50)

Rather striking son of form stallion Pride of Dubai who looks set to run a cheeky race fresh.

Dominant winner on debut over the 1000m before being tipped out and set for a Guineas campaign.

Ran a bold race fresh that prep, just going down late after a heady ride throughout. Then had some niggling issues when they tried to stretch him out in trip.

Links back up with Casey Hunter off a good break. Has speed to burn to cross these, and will take some catching 55kg.

Talented galloper when right who can get punters a result late in the day at odds if they are still upright!

Kembla Grange, Race 9 – 2. Sawrey ($4.20)

We tipped him 2nd up after a good return from an injury layoff fresh.

They ended up on a Good 3 there which is far from ideal so he might have had genuine excuses there.

He hasn’t put in a bad run since, chasing hard 3rd up behind the smart The King. Then just found the 1100m a bit short in the Highway but was far from disgraced.

Gets to 1400m here on his home track and strikes a Heavy 10.

The last two times he found this surface he finished runner up to Yoshino, and beat home Aft Cabin.

Very talented galloper that clearly has soundness issues but he appears to thrive with the give right out of the ground.

Gets back and storms home and I expect them to be well and truly looking for the outside rail by this stage of the day so no knock there.

They might need floodlights to see him by Race 9, but look for him late.

Canberra, Race 9 – 1. Code In Time ($1.75)

Compact gelding who does everything right in his trials and should be hard to shake if he translates that to the 1000m scamper here for his debut.

Ridden out to win his latest trial but showed a willingness in doing so.

Doubt he’s a superstar, but he comes from the right stable, and gets a decent draw, and can get you out of trouble late in the day if your best result at this stage is the last place bonus in the office sweep.
