Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, September 16, and provided our best horse racing tips.

No need to look further than Flemington and Royal Randwick this week for our selections with strong cards at both venues well and truly worthy of Spring Carnival racing.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, September 16.

Randwick, Race 5 – 15. Al Aabir ($34/$7.50)

Took a nice early price about this fellow to win The Metrop and I’m getting very excited each time I see him step out.

Still very backable in that race, gets to 2000m on the big track again here.

These are most likely a large section of the customers he will be meeting in the main race if he gets there, but I’m expecting a very bold showing on Saturday.

Very negative ride last time out, filling the bridle right up to the top of the straight, then rightfully unleashed an impressive last 400m (34.11- best of the race).

Can’t believe the price in this. Tremendous each-way value.

Randwick, Race 6 – 8. Tropical Squall ($6.50/$2.40)

I’ve been looking for something to jump off the page and be the fly in the ointment in this mediocre bunch of fillies for a while and… here she is!

Classics pedigree being a daughter of Champagne Stakes and Australian Derby winner Prized Icon, she certainly shows a bit more zip than him having led throughout in her two starts to date, in good time, and with little effort.

It wouldn’t take a superstar to usurp this lot, and third run in, with a noted front running rider on board and a +7m rail, she looks set to cross and give them something to catch here.

Plenty to like about her going forward, but looks well enough placed against a field with suspect credentials.

Flemington, Race 7 – 6. Osipenko ($12/$4.20)

Sticking with the Chris Waller trained 4YO here in a strong race.

He never looked comfortable getting around the corner at Caulfield when asked to quicken over the 1400m.

The mile of Flemington looks much more suitable for him now. He won’t have to be bustled and will get a chance to balance up, hopefully not too far off them in the small field and we will get to see what he’s all about.

He showed first up he wasn’t far off a horse like Princess Grace and she was able to go toe to toe with the big boys last start after an on pace effort.

Expect the usual suspects to roll forward here again along with the mare and if there’s any softening up out in front, it sets up nicely for a swooper on a fairer track than last time and the 4YO looks the one most likely to have that in his legs out of the back markers.

Anticipating an improved showing here and next time out over further again from what looks a promising horse.

Flemington, Race 8 – 1. Amelia’s Jewel ($1.80)

Hard to see her not beating this lot even in spite of the poor draw.

The main danger, See You In Heaven looked home last start but was worried out of it by old Savatoxl who, although he’s a tough customer and former Group 1 winner, it is not comparing apples with apples when you take a line through the company this mare ran against in The Quokka.

Any of the top 4 there would start in the red figures here. And only the draw beat her that day. Just.

Some query the 1400m first up but she won’t be exerted from the draw and will only need to be allowed to balance up and let unleash for two furlongs down the Flemington straight and she should account for these comfortably.

Would be $1.50 if not for the draw, and I think it matters little given her racing pattern and turn of foot.

Flemington, Race 9 – 1. King Of Sparta ($6.50/$2.10)

Under rated sprinter who has wisely dodged the red hot Shorts field in Sydney and headed south for this.

He wouldn’t be out of place in that cracking field but he does look to have a class edge over these gallopers on exposed form.

Asked to do a bit and responded in his second trial. That should have him fit enough for the 1200m first up. He has a good fresh record, and can be forgiven for his only run down the straight when he finished just outside the placings on a soft track.

Has always given the impression straight racing would be to his liking, give him another go on a firm surface.
