Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, October 7, and provided our best horse racing tips.

We went from the penthouse on Saturday night to crashing back to the basement after failing to strike a blow on what looked a thin card with a diluted pool of horses going around on Wednesday.

No such worries here with quality meetings at both Flemington and Rosehill, with the top billing going to the Underwood Stakes which has a very strong international flavour. A sure sign the imports are planning on plundering our riches more than ever.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, October 7.

Rosehill, Race 5 – 2. Barber ($7.50/$2.15)

A strong race and a bit to digest out of Barber’s last run.

Probably would have had a clearer passage if he’d been out on Parramatta Road at 6pm on a Friday afternoon then he did down the Rosehill straight in the Heritage a fortnight ago.

Still clocked 32.81 there in spite of all that.

Assured of tempo here.

Talks of Ozzmosis for The Everest were absolutely absurd. Never won past 1100m and was highly unlikely to get it easy out in front stepping to 1200m at Randwick in a $10 million race.

His bubble is ready to burst here.

King’s Gambit is a legitimate threat, ridden upside down last start and left in front down the Flemington straight is not his go. Take a line through his Slipper run behind Shinzo and Cylinder.

Very hard to go past Barber, fitter second up and to the six furlongs. Ready to win and can do so with even luck this time.

Kembla Grange, Race 4 – 1. Sawrey ($4.00)

I was very keen on this horse at $31 in town on Wednesday before it was scratched so I feel compelled to stick solid here.

Very talented galloper when right who clearly has had issues. His form around Yoshino and Aft Cabin when they were progressing through midweek company proves that. And his first up run on his home track after a long lay off indicates he is back somewhere near right.

The Nathan Doyle galloper does look very handy off its debut win but he’s got to reproduce that with a race run and some more galloping under his belt and most don’t.

Sawrey carries the 60kg in a class 1 for good reason. He’s the best horse in the race on his best form.

He’s also out of a very astute barn who love a bet and I imagine plenty of thought went into the decision to scratch from the Kenso on Wednesday and be kept for this.

Rosehill, Race 6 – 13. Makarena ($11/$2.65)

Big wrap on this filly from the first time I laid eyes on her.

She ran into a smart one in Nadal on debut. He would go on to run Cylinder and Moravia to a half length his next start.

She did plenty wrong at start number two, but was still able to win comfortably there. The 3rd horse in that race has won a feature maiden since with the 2nd horse finishing runner up.

This is an obvious step up, but she looks a black type filly on both type and ability.

Encap doesn’t do himself any favours in transit and has made a job of it in each of his 5 runs to date.

If you fancy he might have gone to the well once too often, you could do a lot worse than an each-way ticket on this girl.

Flemington, Race 8 – 7. Osipenko ($6.50/$2.30)

I’ve always been told ‘stick to what you know’, which after Wednesday’s blow out, there’s plenty of people who would suggest that much. That aside, I’m fairly confident this horse is going the best of the local brigade and I’m happy to be with him at each-way odds in a race full of unknowns.

Excellent run first up in a strong WFA race. A pass mark around Caulfield 2nd up before producing what was probably the run of the race in the Makybe Diva running 3rd to Mr Brightside and Alligator Blood.

The rider was entitled to think Princess Grace was going to take him into the race from the 4th fence position in that.

Forced to ease and come across heels when she was going nowhere instead of angling between runners.

That just gave Mr Brightside the cold swoop on him and he was off and gone before he really got going late, running Alligator Blood to a half length off the back of a muddling tempo.

Al has franked that form since and would probably be 2nd favourite here.

This horse’s biggest win to date has come at 2000m, and his best run to date has come at Flemington and under WFA conditions.

Drops to 56kg under SWP conditions here after proving himself very genuine under the WFA scale.

Probably a couple of better credentialed internationals but they have so many variables when travelling and acclimatising, I’ll go off the hard evidence and stick with the Waller trained galloper who is ticking over beautifully against a quality crop of local middle distance talent.

Rosehill, Race 8 – 13. Argentia ($11/$3.50)

Plenty want to jump off here but I think she’s worth another go.

Her first two rides for Joe Pride were rippers. She was on the fresh side then, sprinted quickly from off the pace and had little luck in the run home.

They tried to take luck out of the equation 3rd up and Chad Schofield rode her far too close and she never finished off. The run looked disappointing on paper given what won as most thought Golden Mile was only going fair, but his run in the Epsom suggests otherwise now.

She’s never won over 1400m but is Group 2 placed. She has trialled well in between. And very few of Joe Pride’s get beat on the score of fitness.

Forgive her last run, and she is definitely well found in single figures here.
