Overwhelmed?

Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, October 28, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Don’t let them fool ya! As Bob Marley would say. The W.S. Cox plate is still the Weight for Age Championship of Australia.

Pop up races come and don’t necessarily go. In fact more just seem to come. But outside of cricket, and perhaps baseball if you swing that way, racing is a sport that takes pride in its traditions and is happy to let it coexist with innovation, but never let it be overruled by it.

With that in mind we once again see a quality line up of genuine Group 1 middle distance weight for age horses take centre stage at The Valley on Saturday with just the right dash of international flavour thrown in, plus a pair of the always fascinating ‘fly in the ointment’ 3YO’s just to make matters interesting. And that is the way we have gone in the feature as we look to turn the tables on a few close finishes and a couple of ordinary rides that haven’t gone our way in recent weeks.

We’ve focused on the pointy end of Moonee Valley meeting for the majority of our picks, plus we have found our best of the day in the Group 1 Spring Champion at Royal Randwick and we head down the highway to Kembla Grange for an up and coming galloper who is racing in great heart this campaign and hopefully can get the job done for us again as he has in the past.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, October 28.

Randwick, Race 7 – 2. Tom Kitten ($2.35)

He is proving a bit frustrating for punters but I think this is his right race.

Certain Nash didn’t want to be on the fence in the Gloaming but I don’t think he really wanted to be three deep for most of the race either.

He just got it slightly wrong there in transit but he was correct in that this horse needs to get outside of runners and be given plenty of galloping room.

He had a mile of work to do when he circled deepest and almost got it done. Not much luck in the run home in the Dulcify where a couple rolled around in front of him and cost him momentum.

He has been attacking the line strongly over the shorter trips. The 2000m Randwick looks right up his alley now.

He has a bit of class about him in a Group 1 race that falls away very quickly.

Moonee Valley, Race 8 – 2. Buenos Noches ($8.00/$2.60)

The form out of The Everest traditionally has stacked up very well in the race’s limited history and I’m pretty keen to take Imperatriz on here against some fresh cattle out to 1200m.

He was a definite pass mark last start. Rider never really established a spot or looked to have a plan for the race. Same pilot absolutely slaughtered him 2nd up behind Private Eye. That stacks up pretty well coming back to this. And he was awesome first up.

Has raced very tractably when he has come to Flemington in the past. This is different again, but he seems a reasonably straightforward ride.

Either way, B Shinn on for D Gibbons negates that.

All one way traffic for the favourite who is silly odds on the back of beaten B Grade Group 1 stock.

Looks a nice play at good odds.

Moonee Valley, Race 9 – 11. Militarize ($8.50/$2.75)

It always feels like the 3YO’s have a live hope in this race even though their record overall is only fair. That’s not to say they shouldn’t have won a couple more.

Both Viscount and Anamoe were desperately unlucky for protests not to go their way in their freshman year.

This rendition is certainly not as strong a race as when Viscount went down in a three way photo to Northerly and Sunline. And neither 3YO is as good a colt as Anamoe was at the same age but I do think Militarize is a much better galloper than what we saw from him last start.

Bombed the start and forced to go back from the bad draw in the Caulfield Guineas, and then they walked in front on a leader bias track making it almost impossible for him to make up the ground in spite of running home handy sectionals.

There’ll be plenty of tactics at play up front with Tim Clark as the Ringmaster on board Alligator Blood but I imagine this will be run at a very genuine tempo.

Both Fangirl and Mr Brightside have question marks over them at 2000m, so too Alligator Blood in a genuinely run 2050m against stronger company.

I don’t think there’s any issues for this bloke though. Champagne Stakes and Golden Rose winner by Dundeel. He’s certainly better credentialed than the likes of Shamus Award and Savabeel who both won this race at the same age.

Forgive him the last run through circumstance and his resume is pretty darn impressive.

Worth a play at odds in an open race.

Kembla Grange, Race 7 – 3. Headstock ($6.50/$2.40)

The 4YO Headwater gelding from the strong local yard of Rob and Luke Price who is really starting to put it all together.

Always showed plenty of ability but took a while to break through for his maiden win. He has certainly come back an improved galloper this time in.

Five starts this prep for 2 wins and 2 placings. Steps to 1300m for the first time this campaign after five runs at the six furlongs.

Looks more than ready for it on the back of a strong win last start.

Draws well and links up with a rider that knows him well.

Wins here and you can expect to see him in town shortly.

Moonee Valley, Race 10 – 10. Schwarz ($3.80)

Well bred colt who won the way you would have wanted him to on debut after paying big money for him.

Scratched from a very winnable midweek target last Wednesday and put on a truck instead to get set for this.

Gets barrier one, and gets J Mac. All big pluses for an inexperienced horse having a new experience.

He didn’t beat much on debut, but he did it very impressively. Capable of going on with it.
