Overwhelmed?

Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, October 21, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Caulfield Cup day for 2023, and if experience has taught us anything, and hopefully it does as we grow old disgracefully, it’s that you’ll have about as much luck trying to line the form up from across the globe for these feature races over the next month as you will trying to impress backpackers in Byron Bay by requesting Daddy Cool and taking over the D Floor at the local hotspot as you do the ‘Eagle Rock’.

That doesn’t mean it’s not fun, it just means you shouldn’t take yourself too seriously in either venture.

Instead, we suggest sticking to what you know. And we’ve come up with a solid cross section of local gallopers, who we think have hit their target market with shrewd placement this weekend.

Have a crack at the main race by all means, and dream big in doing so, but you’d be silly not to stick solid to the tried and tested formula that we apply to exposed form and get results from week in week out, such as three from three on Wednesday and four from five for our tips the week prior to that.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, October 21.

Caulfield, Race 1 – 3. Kaizad ($4.40)

Handy 3YO from the inform Waterhouse and Bott yard who brings a nice bit of Sydney form to this race.

The half length 2nd to subsequent feature race winner Makarena stacks up really nicely against this bunch.

Soft draw, gets her regular pilot.

Can get punters off to a flyer.

Caulfield, Race 3 – 1. Tropical Squall ($1.90)

I was questioning the form out of the early 3YO fillies races in Sydney so I was glad to see her put that lot away with a comprehensive win last start.

The Griff form out of the Stutt Stakes does start to read a lot better now and we find that through the Moody runner in Autumn Angel.

But I still think the Waterhouse and Bott filly will be too strong.

She had been ticking over beautifully prior to her recent win and this is the trip she is bred for.

She’ll come out firing from the outside draw and they are going to have to be pretty good to try and go with her.

Short enough but should win this and head on to the Oaks.

Caulfield, Race 4 – 3. Treasurway ($21/$4.60)

Certain this filly has a nice race in her at some point.

No luck, absolute ‘forget it went around’ job, first up.

Then disappointing when stepping to 1400m next start but very good from last back to 1200m down the Flemington straight last time out.

I thought maybe she was a 1000 Guineas filly off her pedigree and where she was at last prep, but her best win has been in the Breeder’s Stakes which was 1200m around a corner, and she gets back to that here.

Arkansas Kid failed first up albeit with an excuse but there has to be some question there. Never been sold on the hype around Don Corleone. Facile comes through the very questionable 2YO fillies form from Sydney last season and Dark Halo is a last start maiden winner.

This big girl is four runs in here and already a black type winner and probably finds her right race.

Definitely a more open affair than the bookies would have you believe and she is a lot better than a long double figures pop hard fit against these.

Caulfield, Race 6 – 6. Spacewalk ($2.35)

Very smart galloper who deservedly broke through for a stakes win last campaign and he looks ready for bigger honours off his first up win.

This is a big step up from a public holiday Warwick Farm win but he did that in such good style and knowing where he left off last campaign, he really does look primed for a big Spring.

Lofty Strike is a genuine G1 WFA sprinter but he’s 1st up off a 4 month break and concedes 6kg to a horse on the up with a run under his belt.

Happy to go his way.

Randwick, Race 10 – 7. Pizarro ($9.00/$3.00)

Has put in two good runs this time in and looks ready to fire here 3rd up on his home track.

Drawn poorly on both occasions, bungling the start and ending up last first up before charging home over 1100m.

Sat three deep throughout and still found the line strongly when stepping to 1200m 2nd up.

Stays at Randwick and 1200m, draws more favourably after scratchings and emergencies.

Has been out of the winner’s stall for over a year but has attacked the line both runs this time in and the Airman form stacks up well. Can get the job done with even luck in transit.
