We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, November 18, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Not sure the tail is exactly wagging at the less attractive end of the Spring carnival, but it is a revamped Thousand Guineas day, no less.

The Hunter, run at Newcastle, is more of a programming success story, and rolled into The Gong in a fortnight’s time, it creates an intriguing way to taper off into Christmas.

Punter’s have just one job from here and that is to fill the stockings between now and then.

We’ve cast the net far and wide covering everything from maiden 900m races to mile and half stakes races this week across Newcastle, Caulfield and the Gold Coast in search of something to stick in Santa’s back pocket.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, November 18.

Newcastle, Race 1 – 1. Gram ($4.60)

They tried hard to hide this bloke, sneaking him in a Hawkesbury trial after impressing coming from the back in his first public appearance at Randwick.

Not much gets past us here though at The Racing Sharks, and we are confident we can get punters off to a good start on Thousand Guineas day with this value play.

Not surprised they opened with the Waterhouse runner as favourite but I’m surprised they were so far apart in the market.

Expect a typical jump and run showing from them and I think this bloke will have no trouble picking them off.

They won this scamper last year with Barber off similar tactics. And this could be run more like a testing 1000m for these 2YO’s depending on the rainfall that is predicted on Friday.

Looks very talented.

Caulfield, Race 5 – 7. Semillion ($16/$4.40)

Ran top 5 in a Blue Diamond and won a Kindergarten Stakes at 2YO.

He failed to go on with it at 3YO which a couple of the Shalaa’s have done but buoyed by the fact Team Hawkes have persevered with him and he’s run himself back into a bit of form now he’s matured.

Always comes out good but has boxed on with the addition of winkers his past couple.

They dodged Flemington where he would have been exposed a long way out given his pattern, but they come back to Caulfield which you can expect to be firm and play leadership given the fact they’ve never been able to master the art of irrigation.

He either leads or serves it up to the leader here and he’s hard fit.

Ready to win again. Best roughie.

Newcastle, Race 6 – 2. Stockman ($8.00/$2.75)

Tough old campaigner ready to go now with four runs under his belt and out to a suitable trip.

I thought he did as much in the run as race favourite Canberra Legend last start and you are guaranteed this bloke will turn up, whereas the other horse has to be suspect after a tough run, first up at 2000m in another country.

Rain forecast for Friday which helps.

He looks an each-way bet to nothing if it is in the slow range, and you could nearly declare him on a heavy track.

Nash takes over and he is renowned for getting these old horses back into the winner’s stall, and the stable are airborne at present.

Gold Coast, Race 5 – 9. Orligado ($4.40)

Landed three deep on debut, travelled up outside the leaders approaching the turn, then had no idea what to do when they straightened but still won despite the tough run and the inexperience.

Slow maturing European breed who has been well handled. Stable firing. A bit to like.

Newcastle, Race 8 – 1. Mazu ($4.40/$1.85)

Very high quality galloper when right and is probably going a lot better than his form suggests.

Put the red pen through The Everest run. He got absolutely flattened when building into the race coming over the rise. I think he probably runs top 6 if that doesn’t happen and that sees him finish in front of Espiona and Buenos Noches, both of which would be close to odds on here.

Renowned as a wet track horse, but the fact he’s been putting in on the dry his past couple is a real positive. So too is the chance of some give in the track.

Tricky race run under Quality Handicap conditions but he has the top weight for good reason. He gets the right draw. Hopefully the right track. And once again we see the man who got Kemantari back winning races, taking over the steering duties on a horse that is clearly talented but has been out of sorts for a while.
