We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, November 12, and provided our best horse racing tips.
It seems the festivities at Flemington weren’t kind to most, so punters will be pleased to see a significant shift in venues for feature racing this Saturday.
The Cranbourne Cup and The Hunter at Newcastle are the two headline acts, at two venues that we generally associate with the provincial circuit in their respective states, but fine tracks for a flutter no less.
We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, November 12.
Newcastle, Race 1 – 1. Cylinder ($5.00/$1.95)
The bookies have got this wide open, and understandably so as there’s been some nice trailers into this but it is very hard to go past the Godolphin galloper given what we continue to see from their production line of juveniles.
Punters have taken a line through the two horses that ran one, two in a recent trial in the Baker trained filly Line of Law, and the Team Blue colt, Cylinder.
The filly got the better of the colt there, in her only public hitout. But the stable and rider combo do tend to ride theirs right out, and Rachel King does win a high percentage of trials on account of her light catch weight.
I thought Cylinder could have gone past her there if Bowman had wanted. Plus he’s had another hitout since where he never got out of a canter.
Not put off by the draw given it’s a 900m scamper, and assume J Mac would have got the pick here.
The slow time at Wyong, and the draw help the price. But I’m prepared to look past both and say this bloke can get us off to a flyer.

Cranbourne, Race 4 – 4. Greece ($1.80)
Hoping it’s a case of third time lucky here, although we are going to need plenty of luck from the Melbourne weather Gods.
Declared her twice now only to have her a late scratching on account of a track downgrade, then miss a run as an emergency in a Group 3 race on Oaks Day.
She looked a good thing in each of those stakes races, so she should just be winning here in a 3YO Open Handicap.
She’s an expensive filly who the stable obviously want to pick their targets with. The forecast isn’t ideal, but I doubt it will get into a heavy range and she was dominant last start winning on the soft going.
Good draw with a quality rider up, she looks very hard to beat here if she goes around.

Cranbourne, Race 7 – 2. Just Folk ($9.00/$3.00)
*This horse has since been scratched.*
Racing can be a cruel game, but it would be almost criminal if this bloke didn’t win something this campaign.
Super talented and super honest galloper who boasts a win in the Autumn over recent Five Diamonds and Epsom winner, Ellesberg.
He’s missed by half a length or less, three times in stakes grade from his last five starts.
Ran out of his skin chasing home multiple G1 winner Cascadian in the Craven Plate in Sydney, and was most recently wide throughout but still sprinted like the winner, only to be run down late after a dogged fight in the Cup Day Plate.
Draws a much better gate here, and seems to appreciate getting his toe into the turf which he should get come raceday.
Taps into some strong formlines, and would only need to have one run left in him and he’ll be in the mix here.

Newcastle, Race 9 – 8. Jojo Was A Man ($10/$3.30)
I rate this horse as one of the more promising talents in the country.
He was really starting to put it all together last campaign when a couple of meetings fell over, then he copped a shocking ride, and then the extended campaign finally took its toll.
I thought he trialled absolutely super for this. He has great fresh stats. The 1300m first up suits, and Nash has a previous association with the horse and a great association with the stable.
There’s obviously a target over the Summer months for him, and very typical of John Thompson to bring them along slowly, so no surprise he dodged the Spring even though I think he’s of that quality.
Set for a big campaign and can step out on the right hoof here.

Doomben, Race 9 – 7. Arentee ($4.20)
The stable broke an extended run of outs (and knocked our Wednesday tip page out of a handy multi) during the week. And it wouldn’t shock to see them go back to back here.
He’s the best horse in the barn who made the quantum leap from a midweek maiden win to a Class 3 win in town on a Saturday next start.
Sat three deep next up, in Open grade, in absolute horror conditions, where he looked the winner before the stakes performed Ranch Hand nabbed him late.
Rightly went to stakes grade himself after that, and looked the winner everywhere but the last stride.
Spelled, failed first up, tipped straight out. Then absolutely cruised past them in his latest trial suggesting he is well and truly back.
Hope we are in front by this stage of the day because it will all be going on him.
