We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, May 27, and provided our best horse racing tips.

It was shaping up as a long and cold winter until last week when we were able to find the Doomben Cup winner at double figure odds.

Whilst it may be the last Saturday in Autumn this week, we’ve turned up the heat on the tips with strong selections at Eagle Farm where they are looking at a top temp in the high 20’s for their feature Queensland Derby meeting.

Another great destination at this time of year is Darwin, where we will be looking for selections in the coming weeks, as they edge toward their time honoured Cup carnival. We’ve found one of the best bets of the day there, then we round out our selections with a promising sprinter who goes around at a slightly less sultry Sandown.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, May 27.

Eagle Farm, Race 5 – 4. Zou Tiger ($6.00/$2.25)

Looking to burst the locals bubble here with the Sydney raider.

There’s no doubt Yellow Brick is a nice galloper, but I question whether we are comparing apples with apples here when we talk about a horse that got beaten a Toowoomba feature race, then beat the professional placegetter Lady Laguna in the Gold Coast Guineas last start, as opposed to a horse that has gone toe to toe with the likes of Jacquinot and Aft Cabin.

Kept up to the mark with a couple of trials since a Randwick Guineas placing. And forget the run in between when coming back in trip on a heavy track.

Gets it dry here, residually fit with the benefit of a light freshen up. And possesses the tactical speed for J Mac to negate the tricky draw.

Love the price for a colt of this quality.

Sandown, Race 6 – 7. Katsu ($1.85)

Up and coming sprinter set the task of taking on the older horses here.

He is well and truly up to this on his latest effort where he looked to be tested before really exploding away late.

The stable are renowned for patience and knowing how to nurture top line horses, and he looks every bit of that.

Nothing in this that can trouble him.

Eagle Farm, Race 7 – 1. Kovalica ($1.70)

It would seem punters have some reservation about him backing up but, truth be told, you couldn’t have been much kinder to the horse under race conditions than J Orman was last start.

Showed no signs of the foot trouble that saw him miss some work, outside of probably knocking up the last 50m when he was poised to knock off last year’s winner late.

If anything, that would have him cherry ripe for this and there is nothing in this field close to him in terms of ability.

I would suggest anything around $1.65 or better is worth rolling into multiples all day.

Darwin, Race 2 – 6. Swing With Junior ($3.60)

This mare has been skirting around the edges of putting it all together for some time now, and her stars aligned last start with a commanding 2nd up victory over 1300m.

She pulled out a cracking run back in December when going down less than 3L’s chasing home Pioneer Sprint place getter Poupee, in a race where she was forced to carry 2.5kg over her allotted weight.

Loomed first up, but just peaked on her run. Then gave nothing else a look in 2nd up with a cunning ride off an inside draw by local apprentice Jade Hampson whose ability and smarts in the saddle belie her two kilo claim.

Few have a better strike rate around the country than the Darwin based Chloe Baxter, and I expect this bonny little mare to enhance that statistic on Saturday.

Eagle Farm, Race 8 – 7. King Of Sparta ($8.50/$2.90)

This has always been a ‘good horses’ race, but it really has taken on a life of its own since shifting across the road to Eagle Farm and going to the 1300m.

Whilst it will take some time for the race’s honour roll to match that of its predecessor, the BTC Cup, it continues to attract strong fields on account of it being perfectly positioned between the two big QLD sprint features, that being the Doomben 10,000 run over 1200m, and the Stradbroke, run over 1400m.

And the 1300m is the key here.

I am fairly confident the winner will come from the Victory Stakes, and will come from the trio of Rothfire, Paulele, or King Of Sparta.

Run the race three times, you might get three different results, but on what we saw last start, I’m confident that if that race was stretched to 1300m, and each horse had even luck in running, then King Of Sparta is the winner every time.

They meet again at set weights here, again on a good track. The Godolphin horse draws badly, and the Snowden runner draws soft.

No doubting Rothfire’s toughness but his best form is to 1200m, and not past it, and he is drawn tricky with a few speedsters underneath him.

Sets up perfect for King Of Sparta if he can weave his way between tiring horses.
