Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, May 20, and provided our best horse racing tips.

It looks a tough day at the office on paper with rain affected tracks forecast at our two feature venues of Morphettville for their Goodwood Sprint and Doomben for the Doomben Cup, whilst we strike respectable tracks but very wintery fields at Rosehill and Flemington.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, May 20.

Flemington, Race 1 – 4. Hydrogen Power ($7.50/$2.50)

Loaded first and bombed the start on debut.

Draws outside here, plus he has the benefit of race experience.

I thought he burnt a bit of petrol getting on the bridle inside of runners in transit in that race.

Not beaten far, margin equates here against the toppy at the weights, particularly at 1400m and provided he gets away on even terms.

Will need luck from the draw, but I’m not too worried where he lands, provided he is comfortable.

By an exciting first season stallion, out of a half to Typhoon Tracy. A very valuable colt if he can put it together. And I think he showed enough on debut to warrant a play here at odds.

Rosehill, Race 4 – 3. Shalailed ($6.00/$2.20)

High quality 3YO gelding from the leading O’Shea Sydney stable.

He has not only competed, but has been highly competitive to boot, in a lot harder company than this.

Resumes off a long break here, but I really like the way he came out in the first of his two trials, indicating he is not only sound but he has a zest for racing still after an extended lay off.

I wouldn’t read too much into the result as it reads on paper for his 2nd trial. It was in very smart company, and he was well hidden behind Giga Kick and co. As you would.

Close up form around the likes of Sejardan, Lofty Strike and Hell I Am.

Yet to win first up, but if he races up to those runs, that will change on Saturday.

Doomben, Race 5 – 1. Spacewalk ($6.00/$1.95)

Sticking here, which hasn’t gone great for us of late, but there is just something to this little bloke.

It was hard to offer excuses off his last run given he trailed 3 deep with cover whilst Yellow Brick faced the breeze and raced away. But there’s no Yellow Brick in this.

Lady Laguna has had soft runs its past two, and has perhaps been flattered. Reverse the runs in the Gold Coast Guineas and he beats her home.

Whilst he was well beaten last start, he quickened into it like he was going to trouble the winner, before the 6 weeks between runs told.

Fitter now. Gets McDonald on who he trialed super for leading into his last run, as opposed to race day rider Tim Clark who can be a one trick pony.

Possesses a lethal turn of foot which he can show here with a cute ride off a hot speed.

Doomben, Race 7 – 3. Huetor ($11/$3.00)

We found him in this race last year at big odds when he lowered Zaaki’s colours, and on what we saw last start, it is very hard to comprehend why he is a similar price again,

Blew in the betting the minute the market opened for the Hollindale, and the ride was very negative at just about every stage of the race bar the last furlong.

I’m a massive wrap for Kovalica, but the timeline around his injury and the work he is reported to have had subsequent makes absolutely no sense.

He’s out the gate in the betting, whilst there’s a sprinkle of money for the stable mates. Make of that what you will.

Zaaki has won just the one race past 2000m, in much weaker company than this. And you have to question if they can get the miles in his legs now that he is a rising 9YO in order for him to rewrite that stat.

Heavy track no concern. Very confident.

Morphettville, Race 8 – 9. Lofty Strike ($3.10)

Never seemed happy in the heavy in the T.J. Smith, and a fairly ugly ride from Craig Newitt was of no help.

If you pen that run, he is the clear top elect here. The only issue is the rain again.

Not a lot of it around, but you don’t need much at this time of year when the top temps are in the low teens.

His form in the very top echelon of Group 1 sprints this season is good enough though to say he’s worth sticking with as long as we stay on a ‘Soft’ track. Venture into the ‘Heavy’ numbers and it becomes a leap of faith.

Pray for sunshine, and cross your fingers for a number ‘6’ or lower in the track ratings, and he looks a good thing.
