We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, June 17, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Whilst the temperature has cooled off down south, the racing action continues to run hot up north as we shift to the time honoured Ipswich Cup meeting for feature racing in the Sunshine State which acts as the traditional wedge between the Stradbroke Handicap and the last Group 1 of the season in the Tatt’s Tiara held next week at Eagle Farm.

We’ve also found you tips at the regular southern venues of Rosehill and Flemington whilst we set our sights on Darwin as we look to fill our blackbook in the lead up to their feature carnival.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, June 17.

Ipswich, Race 1 – 3. Defiant Spirit

Very classy winner on debut who looks to have been set for this lucrative QTIS race.

The 1000m to 1200m looks of no concern and whilst he was green in his first start, he will surely have taken benefit from that, and Ben Thompson sticks and will be a wake up to whatever tricks he has in the bag.

Can get us off to a flyer.

Flemington, Race 4 – 7. Sigh

Promising mare building a handy record after an impressive return at this track and trip last start.

She seems to enjoy straight track racing having won off a middle draw last start and running a bottler of a race back in January prior to going out.

Decent margin to the ‘also rans’ at her latest outing, and she looks well placed under the race conditions for a progressive horse.

Darwin, Race 1 – 6. Swing With Junior

Just two weeks to go now until the Darwin Cup Carnival kicks off so it is well worth watching some of these types of races and having the blackbook at the ready if you want to keep your pockets lined over the cooler months down south, or you are lucky enough to have programmed in a trip north.

She has served us well over the past month this mare, winning two back at tidy odds before going down narrowly last start.

She meets her opponents hard fit, with a victory over more than half the field in any one of her last three outings. Draws out a bit today but has more than enough toe to get across.

Suspect she’ll lead or sit outside the lead for the in form local apprentice Jade Hampson, and as usual prove very gutsy in the run to the line.

Look for last season’s Guineas winner and Derby runner up, Wolfburn, to be doing some nice work late coming back in distance here and no doubt on a Cups path.

Rosehill, Race 7 – 2. Bois D’argent

A few of these lining up against each other again in this, but I’m sticking with the last start winner of the Lord Mayor’s Cup, over the same track and trip and with a similar surface underfoot.

The grey imported gelding was bettered by Esti Feny in the Gosford Cup who benefits from a small weight turnaround here, but the Neesham galloper endured a torrid run that day, and was no doubt all the better for the hitout as was evident in his gutsy win last start.

Regan Bayliss sticks, drawn to slot in midfield one off, and we can expect him to come with a withering run from the 600m and hopefully prove too gritty for these.

Ipswich, Race 7 – 2. Dark Destroyer

We might be going off a run too soon here but I suspect this horse is warming up to something and I don’t want to miss out at the price.

Put together some nice runs in the 3YO features in QLD last winter including a 2nd in the Guineas, a win in the Rough Habit, and then a luckless 4th in the Derby.

A couple of quiet rides when resuming, but was working into the race nicely in the Wayne Wilson over a mile when he copped a decent squeeze and had to reroute.

Jumps out past the ten furlongs here which is his right trip, but I suspect the Ipswich track might not be as much to his liking as the roomy Sunshine Coast track in a fortnight over the 2400m.

But we aren’t prepared to let him under our guard so we are making him the ‘Best Roughie’ of the day.
