Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, July 1, and provided our best horse racing tips.

We are covering a few kilometres this week as we chase not only winners, but the sun as well during the depths of winter.

The first Saturday of the new financial year, and what better way to kick it off than by getting some of the tax free folding stuff in your pockets for that long and winding road ahead.

The final day of the Brisbane winter carnival this week and we’ve found both our best bets there including one in the cup that is backing up after saluting for us last week.

We’ve got a mare in form for you down the straight six at Flemington, a filly on the rise at Rosehill, and once again we dip our toe in the crocodile infested waters of the top end where we are hoping to make a few bucks over the coming months until spring rolls around again back down south.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, July 1.

Sunshine Coast, Race 1 – 1. Defiant Spirit ($1.95)

We were desperately unlucky when we declared him one of the best of the day a fortnight ago, but I’m happy to go again here with a bit more race experience under his belt.

Talented Spirit of Boom gelding for the strong Stuart Kendrick team, he has been very green in his two starts to date, getting away with it in his maiden, then basically costing himself the race with his waywardness last start when going down by just a neck.

From a strong yard who have a good record with young progressive horses, prepared to bank on the fact that the match practice and an extra gallop or two has brought him on.

Going with him as our best.

Rosehill, Race 6 – 8. Hi Dubai ($3.90)

Thought we might have got a slightly better price about this lightly raced filly, but no doubt the smart punters would have black booked her off her first up run, then found her here off the good draw and with the claim for Zac Lloyd.

An unusually clunky sort of ride from Nash last start but a few things conspired against him. Mostly a bit more pace underneath him than he was expecting, and just the general shape and pattern of the punter’s graveyard that is the Kensington track.

She was strong late, stays at 1100m and on dry ground. And they have wisely claimed for her first foray into Saturday metro grade.

She looks up to it.

Sunshine Coast, Race 6 – 1. Luncies ($4.60)

It had been a while between drinks for the big grey, but he ambled up to them and put them away very easily last start franking that form out of the Doomben Cup and also proving he still has a zest for winning.

Happy to go with him again here. He has the top weight but he also has the quality on his side. He’s hard fit, on a seven day back up after a victory over the same distance at Eagle Farm last week.

You can only assume Kris Lees wouldn’t have backed him up if he didn’t pull up well. And if he maintains what he did last week, he just wins again.

Flemington, Race 7 – 7. Sigh ($3.30)

Almost impossible to go past her here given the way she has been putting them away her past couple.

Loving life down the straight, she needs to prove she can win out to the six furlongs here but there is every indication that will be no problem.

Did everything right last start back on the inside, she’ll most likely end up there again in this, and she is proven on soft ground.

Stick with a mare in form.

Darwin, Race 8 – 9. Wolfburn (TBA)

With the Brisbane winter carnival all but over, and the Spring yet to ramp up, there is a bit of a lull in proceedings along the eastern seaboard in terms of feature racing so what better time to look to the Top End as they gear up for their Darwin Cup carnival.

Clear skies, rail- True, track- Good, and a relatively closed pool of horses over the next five weeks makes Fannie Bay an ideal place for a punt.

It is ‘Industry Day’ this Saturday, or ‘Day Zero’ as it is affectionately known to the locals, headlined by the ROANT Gold Cup and we think we’ve found one of the best bets around the country to fill your pockets late in the day.

Last year’s Darwin Guineas winner, Wolfburn, has come back in terrific order posting a win down south over the mile 3rd up for Philip Stokes, before being transferred back to Gary Clarke for a crack at the mile features as well as the Darwin Cup.

His win first up back on the dirt was superb, sitting deep throughout the course of the 1300m and lumping 60kgs to post a comprehensive 3.5L victory.

Drops to the minimum here against a field that is mostly short on match practice.

The Clarke stable holds a strong hand as is typically the case here, and I expect they’ll be able to dictate how it is run with both their main charges very gritty on pace types.

Leading local hoop Jarrod Todd steers, and I think the rising 5YO will win this and be in for a big campaign.
