We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, January 28, and provided our best horse racing tips.
The last Saturday in January, and still a month away from the official start of Autumn but there is a distinct carnival feel to a lot of the races around the country this week.
We have the Group 2 Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley, whilst in Sydney, the Caulfield Guineas winner resumes in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes.
We’ve tipped against the favourite there, but have found a Godolphin 3YO as our best of the day.
We’ve also found top picks on the Sunshine Coast as well as Newcastle, and we fancy a talented galloper who can pop up at odds for us in the Midway at Rosehill.
We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, January 28.
Moonee Valley, Race 4 – 2. Spacewalk

Godolphin 3YO gelding who should have a much better record than what he does.
He was still very green last time in and threw away a couple of races culminating in losing the Listed Poseidon Stakes on protest.
He appears to have ironed a few of those issues out, going off a good trial win.
His race manners were fine first up, just needed galloping room earlier, and it is a pretty handy mare that won the race.
This stable has a great record when travelling horses and changing states, especially when Jamie Kah is waiting to jump on them for you.
I think he’s one of the best bets of the day.

Rosehill, Race 6 – 14. Slickman ($13/$3.90)

Determined not to let this galloper get under our guard.
Pulled out two cracking runs to kick off this campaign, then powered through along the inside and looked likely when the step up in trip and the month between runs told on him 3rd up.
Expect this track to race ‘leaderish’ and he is going to get back, but he does possess an impressive sprint when asked to produce it at the right time. And he gets a nice bit of tempo on here.
Going to carry 51kg after the claim, on a fortnight back up.
More than capable of winning races at this level.

Newcastle, Race 6 – 2. Kangaroo Court

Heavily backed on debut on the strength of two very strong trials.
Camped outside the leader there and rated to perfection before being run off on the corner, effectively taking him out of the race.
Completely forget that run. He looks to get it all his own way in front here in a race void of pace.
Nobody riding better around the country than Winona Costin at the moment who has a long and successful association with the stable.
Should lead, should win.

Sunshine Coast, Race 6 – 4. The Bopper ($1.65)
Tough watch at the Gold Coast and there’s not much of a margin here to try and get it back but he is dead set flying since he made the shift to the QLD arm of the Kris Lees stable.
Absolutely bolted in, in his first start there, then just ran out of track over the 900m on a day where nothing won making ground.
Maps well for him here with speed on and the big track. He has been very genuine since they committed to keep him over these short trips as a hold up/run on sprinter.
Short enough but he is going super and should be able to atone for his narrow defeat last time out.

Rosehill, Race 8 – 4. Forbidden Love ($2.90)
She probably appeared below her best on paper last prep but it took her until four runs in before she drew a respectable gate and she had some hard runs by then.
Far from disgraced in a high quality race, The Invitation 4th up, but probably not right at her top and was tipped out right away.
That move might pay off here, as she has had some tough campaigns racing at the highest level on very testing tracks in the past.
She is a dual Group 1 winner however, and has a good break before trialling like an absolute bomb at Warwick Farm on Jan 16.
Rosehill with a +5m rail works in her favour big time and she might be able to get a few of these off the bridle if she runs up to her best and the trial certainly tells you she isn’t far off that.
Can knock off the star colt here first up.
