Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, December 31, and provided our best horse racing tips.

After a below par Spring Carnival, we kicked back strongly late in the year to finish on a high, and much like you used to be able to do on this day when we were young, we’ll be looking to see the New Year in with a bang!

After a profitable few weeks, this looks one of the trickier cards through November and December to navigate, but we’ve put the hard work in so you can park the form guide along with the car safely at home, and relax and enjoy the festivities however you choose to spend it.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, December 31.

Randwick, Race 1 – 13. Cha Cha Cha ($31/$6.00)

Led, and has just knocked up late in both her trails to date. Both admirable efforts and both the horses that won those two heats have gone on to perform well in high quality races after that.

Expect her to be fitter now with the two hit outs under her belt, plus a couple of gallops in between. And suspect the step to 1200m and the relief in pressure she’ll receive upfront are both to her big advantage.

Thought she should have nearly been the second favourite here, and you are only getting the overs because of the trainer/jockey combo. Neither of whom are slouches at their trade, just more low profile characters.

Think she is a certainty to run top 3.

Doomben, Race 2 – 2. Sovereign Fund ($1.75)

We found him on debut in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO race, and there is no reason to jump off here.

Market has it a race in two with the Ballarat Magic Millions race winner his main danger at a roll of the board better.

Really liked the win at Wyong. Confident ride, did everything right, and put them to bed with no fuss.

McDonald jumps on the Busuttin/Young runner here but you don’t lose much, if anything with J Kah taking over.

Looks untapped and might do a job on this small field.

Moonee Valley, Race 4 – 3. Matron Bullwinkel ($2.40)

Struck a rock hard fit opponent first up where she gave a good sight, cruising to the lead entering the straight after sitting second to the corner.

Joined half way down the running, but the 2000m first up told. Never shirked the task.

Lightly raced and talented mare who is yet to run a poor race. Typical Maher/Eustace stayers temperament. She looks primed to strike 2nd up at the 2040m on a track and trip that is a happy hunting ground for the barn.

Gosford, Race 4 – 6. The Unicorn ($3.80)

Looked a promising typical tough on pace horse out of the Waterhouse/Bott yard as she worked through her grades early. Enough to warrant having a crack at stakes grade.

Cowboy ride from Newitt bought her unstuck there, and to defend the indefensible, she might have had enough by the time she got there after striking trying tracks all throughout her maiden campaign.

Massive drop back in grade here, and has had a month freshen up as well as a pass mark trail by order of stewards.

Will be skinny, but she will be winning if she still has even a drop left in the tank.

Randwick, Race 6 – 1. Jojo Was A Man ($4.00)

The bookies have rightfully made this a race in two and you can’t blame them for leaning Steely’s way given the recent form of Nugget who defeated him last start before going on to post another comprehensive win at Sandown on Boxing Day.

But Jojo did the right thing by us on Boxing Day, bouncing back to form when getting out to a mile to win with a leg in the air.

He’ll get another good track again here, gets a soft draw for his favourite pilot Reece Jones who comes in very handy still claiming a kilo and a half, and the horse actually drops in weight because he is going up in grade, which poses no concerns as he is already proven competitive in Stakes grade. Which will most likely be his next stop if he wins again here.

Expect him to give this a mighty shake now he is back near his best.
