We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, August 20, and provided our best horse racing tips.

In a sure sign that Spring is right on our doorstep, we see the race named as a homage to perhaps the biggest Spring star of all time, the Winx Stakes to be run over 1400m at Royal Randwick. The Group 1 Weight for Age race run over 1400m is the highlight of a strong Sydney racing card and we’ve gone to that race for our ‘Best Roughie’ of the day.

We drill down into the form lines of some of the best up and coming Melbourne colts to find the winner of the McKenzie Stakes at Moonee Valley on the Melbourne program, while we head to an early race at Doomben in Brisbane for our best bet of the day where we are very confident of a result.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, August 20.

Randwick, Race 2 – 6. Monfelicity ($3.50)

The rider of this horse was asked a lot of questions in regards to his ride, gave some pretty average answers, and that was it. Case closed by the Stewards. Go figure punters…

Not sure if it was the worst ride I’ve seen this year, or the worst piece of acting I’ve seen since they canned Neighbours. However, I think we found the answer out after the stablemate won the race at $21 and their trainer declared it was ‘always my intention to back the mare up next week’.

Well here she is folks. After a ‘barrier trial’ last week over 1800m on a 7 day back up into a mile and a half race at very backable odds.

W Pike takes over from T Sherry. You can work the rest out.

Doomben, Race 2 – 1. Hang Five ($2.60)

Tipped him but with caution first up in a small field with a couple of speedy types over 1200m.

They just got away from him there but he showed the turn of foot he possesses to finish off nicely late.

The tempo and map along with the step to 1350m second up all look ideal.

He is a horse with a lot of upside beyond a race like this and he is the best bet of the day.

Randwick, Race 7 – 5. Jamaea ($6.00/$2.20)

If she reprodeces her run in the Light Fingers from back in February here at Royal Randwick she just wins.

There wouldn’t be a punter in the country who backed her that day that didn’t stand up to get in the queue at the 200m.

No fault of Tommy’s there, she just peaked late first up at a strong Randwick 1200m with two really good fillies chasing her down.

They went to 1400m 2nd up and dragged the guts out of her on a heavy 10. And then she just bounced next start on the back of that back to 1100m in the G1 Galaxy.

Went super in her only QLD winter run finishing off strongly in the G2 Victory Stakes from a cold ride behind a stable mate who got beat a lip in a $7.5 million dollar Golden Eagle.

She doesn’t go in the real heavy ground, and only gets six furlongs if you ride her dead cold. Randwick, 1100m, provided it stays in the soft range is her go in life.

Moonee Valley, Race 5 – 1. Let’srollthedice ($6.50/$2.15)

There is no question that race favourite Foujita San can gallop. But he is really sticky coming out of the machine.

Bombed it at his only Valley start. And repeated the effort in his recent Warwick Farm trial. And has to be a massive risk at around a 6/4 quote on this circuit.

The Danny O’Brien Dundeel colt was a few lengths off a crack pair of fillies in Sydney. Neither of them are here. But if they were they’d be $1.04. And off his trials he looks like he has come on.

His breeding suggests he needs further now, he gets back in his races, he has to carry weight, he’s first up but… he oozes quality, well above what any of these have to offer.

These are just stakes horses on exposed form and he is a G2 winner and G1 placed behind a Golden Slipper winner. And he carries just 3.5kg above the minimum under the conditions of this race.

A +5m rail is against his pattern but there is a tonne of pace in this and he is the superior beast if he’s within striking distance on the point of the bend.

Randwick, Race 8 – 10. Fangirl ($7.00/$2.20)

Wish we could bottle races like this and serve them up every week. What a ripper the Winx Stakes is!

The race is loaded with talent, that said, most of these do take a run to find their best.

Race favourite and Cox Plate runner up Anamoe is 1 from 4 first up. Second favourite Forbidden Love was beaten by 100/1 pop first up who wouldn’t get a start in this. And the next in betting is Mo’unga who they could only get two runs into last prep and has trialled pretty average.

Fangirl on the other hand has trialled almost identical to how she did last prep where she came out and beat boom filly Espiona and G2 winner Jamaea who we have all but declared on this same card.

Next time she got back onto a track that wasn’t heavy after that run, she came out and won the G1 Vinery. Chris Waller is a pattern trainer, hence why they changed the name of the Warwick Stakes to the Winx Stakes after his champion mare won this race three times first up.

She gets no worse than a soft track here, Hughy gets back on, and her last first up run resulted in a victory in a very strong G2 race.

Plenty to like. Most of all the price.
