Overwhelmed?

Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, August 19, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Spring might not have quite sprung, but it may as well have, looking at the quality fields in Sydney this week.

And then then rain comes…

Almost right on cue, and after months of good rated tracks to punt on, we now have to negotiate the minefield both in the form guide and out on the Randwick course proper.

The good thing about good horses though, is that we know their exposed form well and they generally run up to those marks.

We really like one early so we are hoping to get some cash before things get too murky out there whilst we have an absolute mudlark that has been rightly backed off the map in the last to anchor proceedings.

And leaving nothing to chance, we’ll scoot down to Melbourne for the best of the day where we are expecting slightly better conditions but it should matter little for this best of good things.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, August 19.

Randwick, Race 1 – 4. Vindication ($6.00/$2.25)

Couple of strong trial wins leading into a dominant first up victory.

Short quote there but duly saluted. Then split smart gallopers Mogo Magic and Smashing Eagle 2nd up in an 1100m race where he was attacking the line strongly late.

Definite query on the heavy but they go back into the true position here which is sure to have a good cover of grass. Steps to 1200m. He should be able to slot in one off or even three deep with cover and being the opening race, he will have the first crack at the best going.

Hard not to like at the price and off his first pair of runs this time in.

Randwick, Race 5 – 6. Argentia ($11/$3.00)

Very excited to see what master conditioner of black type mares, Joe Pride can do with this enigmatic mare. And we didn’t really get to see that first up when she copped the blow back from the unfortunate incident with stablemate Big Parade.

Looked set to bullock into a run there, the end result being very inconclusive amidst the carnage.

Backing the brilliance of Joe Pride to not only get this mare back on point, but also improve her.

Capable at her best, and worth a gamble at good odds.

Randwick, Race 7 – 8. Queen of the Ball ($5.00/$1.85)

Huge Zougotcha fan but I’m expecting very trying conditions by this stage of the day. And although she has both excellent heavy track and fresh stats, I am concerned about her carrying the top weight, from the outside with just the one trial under her belt.

She had a tough campaign last time in, culminating in finishing down the track in the Doncaster Mile, and coming into this with just the one trial would indicate Waller has given her an easier time leading into this prep with some targets picked out down the line rather than early doors.

Whilst there is compression of the weights down on the minimum, Queen of the Ball is a quality mare who is a three times stakes winner and her two trials this time in have been excellent, telling us she is wound right up to add to that impressive resume first up here.

Plenty of pace in this, both she has options galore from the 3 draw and few are better at finding the front and rating them to win than Rachel King.

She was 2nd to Alligator Blood in her first trial, then held Nature Strip and gapped the rest of them in her second hit out.

Failed in the Golden Slipper on a Heavy which is forgivable. Outside of that she has two black type wins on Slow ground.

Maps well, ticks the wet track box and looks ready to roll.

Caulfield, Race 8 – 2. Cylinder ($1.65)

Star colt who looks set to go on with it this campaign going off two strong trials.

Slight blot on the copybook when he raced like a tired 2YO in the Sires.

Certainly not the first good horse to do that. Just found one better in the Slipper, beat the rest easily. And he was brilliant in the lead up to that run.

Tough customer who I anticipate they will restrict to shorter trips this time in. Could be set for a big Spring and I’m sure his name has been mentioned in The Everest conversations at Team Blue HQ given the success of 3YO’s in the race in the past.

If that’s the case, he should blow these away.

Randwick, Race 10 – 3. Pacific Ruby ($3.40)

Forgive a good horse one bad run and that is what the team at Maher and Eustace have converted this mare into.

Enjoyed a charmed run to the corner but had nothing in the tank 2nd up. Wouldn’t be the first horse to flop 2nd up off a good win first up.

Comes back to a benchmark race here with a freshen up. McDonald to ride and she has faultless heavy track numbers.

Back to the 1200m on what will by trying ground by the last look.
