It looks a wide-open edition of the $2 million 2021 Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m), with no outstanding candidate heading in with strong market favouritism.

A number of well fancied chances have drawn the car park in the big dance, let’s take a look at each and every runner in the 2021 Magic Millions 2YO Classic to find a winner…

1 – Alpine Edge – $8.50 💰

Alpine Edge had a visually impressive win over Baby Wong in the Group 3 BJ McLachlan at Eagle Farm, and having a look around at 1200m is certainly a plus here compared to some others untested at the trip. Not sure he actually beat much and the figures aren’t amazing, but he has to be in calculations at a reasonable price.

2 – Finance Tycoon – $14

A well-bred Written Tycoon colt from the powerful Lindsay Park operation, looking for a hattrick of wins here in the big one. He’s drawn the absolute car park in gate 21, which makes it very tough to win three wide the trip. You are getting a double figure quote to find out because of the gate, but happy to be against him here.

3 – Readily Availabull – $26

Got up against some fairly average types at Ballarat in the Magic Millions Clockwise Challenge that was ravaged by late scratchings. Have marked him more like a $50 chance and looks unders here.

4 – Shaquero – $11 💰

Has enough speed to use the inside gate and will probably look the winner at some stage, and the Waller / Bowman combination is definitely a plus. Had all the favours last start on a day that favoured on-pace runners and couldn’t get the job done. On-speed may not be a big advantage on Saturday with the rail once again in the true, with the inside possibly being chewed up by the time of the race. Goes in exotics but may get gunned down in the straight.

5 – Ghostwriter – $81 💰

Wasn’t the worst last outing and looks overs at the current price, may be worth throwing in exotics and could run a hole with some luck.

6 – Baby Wong – $17 💰

Has a hattrick of places this prep and only just went down to Alpine Edge last start. However, he had all the favours there and got gathered easily, with this looking a much tougher assignment. Not the worst, but the price is about right.

7 – Mishani Scandal – $151

The three-figure price says it all. No.

8 – Rambeau – $81

Out of the same junk Ballarat race as Readily Availabull, cannot entertain.

9 – Fake Love – $18 👀💰

Maher & Eustace, same connections and colours as last year’s winner Away Game. Has drifted due to the draw (barrier 20) and a bit of an issue where she lost a plate during a swim at the beach and has had to present in front of the vets several times during the week. Made Baby Wong look like an amateur in a recent trial, and is worth including in exotics despite the negatives, class may get her a long way.

10 – Mura Mura – $41

Hasn’t lived up to expectations so far and would need to show massive improvement. Hard to have.

11 – She’s All Class – $4.60 👀🏆💰

It was a visually outstanding win at Wyong which is usually a good form race for this, and it’s hard to knock the Waller / JMac combo here. She’s got good enough tactical speed to negotiate the sticky wide draw, and looks up to her eyeballs in this one.

12 – Swift Witness – $4.00 👀🏆💰

Has been the big firmer since the barrier draw, with a number of her main rivals all drawing wide. Powerful Waterhouse, Bott and B Avdulla combination, and is certainly well bred. Had the perfect ride with everything going its way last outing, and will have to improve again to get it done here. Goes in everything, is a massive chance, but looks short at the price.

13 – You’ll Be Mist – $35

Has won twice this prep on the Sunshine Coast, but she’s coming up against a far better level of opposition here. No.

14 – Miss Hipstar – $19 👀🏆💰

Got a long way back last start and then trucked around three wide without cover as well as nearly getting flattened at the top of the straight. Will be wide again here from the draw but should have cover and just needs even luck. Worked home beautifully and looks massive overs here at the current quote.

15 – Queen Of Wizardry – $26

Won at big odds last start at Eagle Farm on debut but this is much harder, happy to be against.

16 – Princess Bojack – $126

Would need to start running now to have a chance.

17e – Ranch Hand – $13 👀🏆💰

The only emergency in with a chance if he somehow gains a start. The last 300m at Eagle Farm last start may not be pretty where he got nailed at the line, but he did a stack of work early in the race and is a massive chance here if he can sneak into the field.

Tip: 14-11-9-12 and definitely include 17 if he gains a start!

👀 = Must Watch
🏆 = Big Winning Chance
💰 = Worth Including in Exotics

From Muswellbrook to the Melbourne Cup, Will is mad about all things racing and sport. Spent countless hours in the backyard as a child pretending to be Glenn McGrath, and has been known to get deadly late swing with a taped tennis ball.
