Slot holder Yulong Investments has confirmed Tofane will be representing them in this year’s The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 17th.

The speedy mare had a break out autumn campaign, where she took out the All Aged Stakes (1400m) over the likes of Pierata, Bivouac, and Santa Ana Lane.

She most recently returned to the track at Flemington in the 2020 Bobbie Lewis Quality, where she finished a close third behind Zoutori.

Trainer Michael Moroney was happy with the first up run, and was thrilled to partner with Yulong and it’s principal Yuesheng Zhang for The Everest.

“I was more than satisfied with her effort under the circumstances,” Moroney said. “She had top-weight, the race wasn’t really run to suit so I thought for her to be beaten under half a length was an excellent run.’’

“Mr Zhang purchased our Group 1 winner Alabama Express earlier this year and he is just starting his stud career for him here in Victoria and I’m sure Tofane will do us all proud,’’ Moroney said. “She won the All Aged Stakes at Randwick in April after good efforts in the Galaxy and the T J Smith and she beat Gytrash home over 1200 metres in Adelaide last year so she deserves a crack at a race like The Everest.”

Tofane has been slashed to a $15 chance in The Everest, and joins fellow slot holders Nature Strip ($4), Rothfire ($6), Gytrash ($7), and Classique Legend ($12) at the top of the market.
