Stokes Plotting More Group 1 Success for Mr Quickie in Autumn

Mr Quickie secured a second career Group 1 in the spring with his win in the Toorak Handicap (1600m), and trainer Phillip Stokes has his eye on adding to that tally in the autumn.

“There’s plenty of races for him in the autumn. There’s a couple of really nice races at Caulfield, he seems to go really well there,” Stokes told racing.com.

“I think races like the Orr Stakes, that would be a nice race for him, and the Futurity [is where we will head].”

Stokes also added that the All Star Mile (1600m) could be a possible target.

In-form sprinter Ancestry is in the paddock after a successful spring, and will target the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate in the autumn.

“He will go to the Group 1 at Caulfield, the Oakleigh Plate,” Stokes said.

From Muswellbrook to the Melbourne Cup, Will is mad about all things racing and sport. Spent countless hours in the backyard as a child pretending to be Glenn McGrath, and has been known to get deadly late swing with a taped tennis ball.
