Some of the top gallopers in the country have taken to the Randwick trials as they look to push towards the Spring Racing Carnival.

The track wasn’t doing anyone any favours, as it was graded a Heavy 9, however, three 850m trials were run.

The first saw the James Cummings-trained Home Of The Brave cross the line first in front of a strong field that included Dreamforce and Kolding. Con Te Partiro impressed, finishing strong late.

James McDonald rode Savatiano to victory in the second trial, beating home Entente and Wolfe. It was also a strong field, with the likes of Greysful Glamour, Kings Will Dream and Probabeel all in the field.

In the third trial, Melody Belle saluted, beating home Fierce Impact and Quacker Jack. Mister Sea Wolf and Hush Writer finished further back in the pack.

The very first heat was the fastest of the lot and was clocked at 50.46. The second was the slowest at 51.67 and the third was run in 51.50.

Whether it be table tennis, AFL, or the Spring Carnival, Matt is passionate about all things sport and racing. He also claims to have smashed Ben Simmons to all parts in a game of primary school cricket.
