Meteorite was rolled as a $1.50 favourite last start, but co-trainer Calvin McEvoy is confident that the tearaway sprinter can bounce back at Pakenham on Saturday.
The galloper was beaten by Grandview Avenue, who franked the form by taking out the listed Carlyon Stakes at Moonee Valley last Saturday.

“I don’t think he was disappointing once you saw the Carlyon Stakes last Saturday,” Calvin McEvoy said.
“Initially we were disappointed after The Valley, but they still ran 54.7 (seconds) I think (over the 955m) and the record is 54.45.”
“That horse was just too good for him on the night and then he backed it up and won the Stakes race very impressively, so that gave us more confidence,” McEvoy junior said.
“He is in really good order and I think he’s probably improved, looks incredible and in Benchmark 78 grade I think he’ll be very hard to beat.”
Meteorite is currently a $2.60 chance in Race 2 at Pakenham on Saturday.
