Saturday’s Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick will see a number of talented sprinters resume for their spring campaigns, with Bivouac and Catalyst keen to impress for potential slots in The Everest.
Bivouac has been earmarked as the runner for Godolphin’s slot in the $15 million race, and a good performance on Saturday would go a long way to locking that in.
Bivouac is currently the $3.80 all-in favourite for The Shorts, with The Everest slot holder Classique Legend second in line at $4.20, with another The Everest hopeful Catalyst at $5.
Catalyst’s grand final this spring is the 2020 Golden Eagle (1500m), but trainer Clayton Chipperfield has said that they would certainly also head to The Everest if an opportunity presented itself.
