Superstar Alligator Blood could very well miss the riches on offer during Sydney’s Spring Racing Carnival in a bid to win the prestigious Cox Plate.

The gelding’s owner, Allan Endresz, discussed the possibility of targeting the $5 million race.

“I’d dreamed of Cox Plates earlier but never thought he’d be ready for that sort of thing this year,” he explained.

“I’m pumped. I’ve dreamed of Cox Plates with Better Loosen Up, a local horse, winning.

“So when I found out my vote went straight to the Cox Plate. Bugger the money.

“Sometimes the historical value of these races means more (than money).

“The thought of a Cox Plate, running in it, is mouthwatering.”

Alligator Blood’s trainer David Vandyke called a meeting of the owners to discuss and decide what the plans would be in the spring for the star galloper. There is more prize money on offer in Sydney, however, the prestige of races in Melbourne is certainly alluring.

The gelding last raced in March, finishing mid-field in the All-Star Mile, with Regal Power the eventual victor. He has since been surrounded by some controversy, and earlier in July was stripped of his $2 million Magic Millions Guineas win.

Whether it be table tennis, AFL, or the Spring Carnival, Matt is passionate about all things sport and racing. He also claims to have smashed Ben Simmons to all parts in a game of primary school cricket.
