We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, December 15th, and provided our best horse racing tips.
It’s Magic Millions feature race day at Wyong with a strong seven race program including the main draw card that is the two year old classic. This sees a capacity field of precocious youngsters chasing two hundred thousand dollars in prize money which will go a long way to helping them obtain a start in the main race on the Gold Coast in January.
Of the other meetings, Sandown has attracted its typical strong fields whilst midweek racing in Brisbane heads to Ipswich.
We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, December 15th.
Ipswich, Race 1 – 7. So You Knew ($7.00)
So You Knew is a 3yo gelding by So You Think who rises to the 1700m trip at just start number two. The powerful combination of Tony Gollan and Steph Thornton team up here in the opening race and we think they can get punters off to a flying start.
He did everything right on debut, he just found them a bit too nippy when they sprinted but still found the line strongly, doing his best work late. He’s bred to be a middle distance horse and this maiden race looks ideal for him to open the account.

Wyong, Race 3 – 3. El Nido ($3.90)
A 1350m maiden race here where most of the runners have plenty of convictions. This looks an ideal race for El Nido from the powerful Maher and Eustace yard with their sparingly raced 5yo mare who will be stepping out for just start number two after closing solidly on debut over the 1100m. She is drawn out a little but her racing pattern is to get back and run on, and aided by the services of Jason Collett, we think she represents one of the better bets on the day.
Wyong, Race 4 – 1. Head Legislator ($3.90)
A small but select field here for the 3 and 4 year old Magic Millions Stakes and we think the favourite is worth taking on. Head Legislator strung a couple of nice wins together at the back end of his most recent prep including an impressive victory over the talented Promise of Success.
He ran third in a trial recently where he went to the line under a nice hold by Rawiller who stuck with him for this first up assignment. Favourite Snitzonfire didn’t finish the race off first up after being asked to do a little bit early and a similar pattern emerges in this race and we think Head Legislator will be overpowering him late.
Wyong, Race 6 – 8. Cholante ($26)
We are going after one at big odds here in the feature of the day. There was a time when Clarry Conners was the king of the two year olds having bagged four Golden Slippers between 1991 and 2000.
Whether this little filly can reach those heights is another thing, but she certainly did look ready to race in a recent barrier trial win. She flew the lids there and even though she was given a good hitout, she quickened again late and registered a better time than the boys out of the same trial session.
They’ll go quick in this but I expect her to be right on pace with Rachel King aboard and she might just upstage some of her more fancied rivals with her gritty, ready to run style, typical of so many of the Clarry Conners two year olds over the years.
The future of racing! This should be happening all across Australia. It’s the best way to get young enthusiastic people into the industry. https://t.co/rQEoO7rdfS

Sandown, Race 4 – 9. Viviane ($2.30)
Sticking with the in form Mathew Ellerton yard here with Jamie Kah to do the steering. Really liked this filly’s latest win where she was held up in traffic against a muddling tempo but attacked the line strongly once clear.
She finds a moderate benchmark 64 race here, comes back to the 1000m where she will most likely run along a bit and has plenty of time to wind up down the long Sandown straight. We think she can go back to back and she looks the best bet on the Melbourne card.
Best Bet – 3. El Nido (Wyong, Race 3)
Next Best – 1. Head Legislator (Wyong, Race 4)
Best Roughie – 8. Cholante (Wyong, Race 6)
