A capacity field of 16 plus two emergencies has been finalised to contest Wednesday’s Group 3 2020 Bendigo Cup (2400m), with an all-important weight penalty on offer for the 2020 Melbourne Cup (3200m).
There are seven horses lining up in the Bendigo Cup that are still in the running for a Melbourne Cup berth, with Zebrowski currently 30th in the order of entry, with Azuro (40th) and Haky (44th) further back and needing to secure a 1.5kg weight penalty to have any hope of making the final field of 24.
Further back in the order are Pondus (47th) and Midterm (51st), with Lord Belvedere and Saracen Knight yet to pass the ballot clause with their performances thus far.
