{"id":2929,"date":"2020-10-10T20:09:22","date_gmt":"2020-10-10T10:09:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theracingsharks.com.au\/?post_type=news&#038;p=2929"},"modified":"2021-08-13T14:34:58","modified_gmt":"2021-08-13T04:34:58","slug":"flit-could-bypass-eagle-for-interstate-g1","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/theracingsharks.com.au\/news\/flit-could-bypass-eagle-for-interstate-g1\/","title":{"rendered":"Flit could bypass Eagle for interstate G1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"first\">Bonny mare Flit has given Godolphin food for thought after returning to the winner&#8217;s circle in the $500,000 Silver Eagle at Randwick.<\/p>\n<p>The 1300m race is timed as a lead up to the $7.5 million Golden Eagle (1500m) at Randwick in three weeks but trainer James Cummings has stopped short of committing her to a start.<\/p>\n<p>While the race is among Flit&#8217;s spring options, a trip to Melbourne for the Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on the same day is also being considered.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She has been flying this preparation without winning,&#8221; Cummings said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We just couldn&#8217;t see her running a bad race today and yet she was up against some pretty good opposition.<\/p><div class=\"396456b7f3fe45513491166c7bb3cce7\" data-index=\"1\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<center><div class=\"mcwidget-embed\" data-widget-id=\"14472961\"><\/div><\/center>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>&#8220;She has marched herself right into contention for a couple of big targets over the next three weeks and it will be up to the boys which way they want to head with her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ridden by Rachel King, Flit ($10) made her run with $2.50 favourite Alligator Blood and packed too many punches for the Queenslander.<\/p>\n<p>She prevailed by a long neck over the David Vandyke-trained gelding with Dawn Passage ($4.20) making late ground to finish another 1-1\/4 lengths away.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Maloney said there were no excuses for Alligator Blood.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Had a nice run.
