A huge day at Flemington is in store for punters, headlined by the Group 1 2020 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) and the Group 1 2020 VRC Sprint Classic (1200m).
Let’s take a look at a few horses to follow on Saturday to finish the Flemington Carnival the right way!
Race 3 – Chatham Stakes – 1400m
A few queries on the market leaders Morrissy and Sansom, who don’t perform quite at their best here at Flemington.
One horse who loves it is Reykjavik ($9/$2.50), winning three times and placing twice from seven attempts at headquarters. Ran really well in the Rupert Clarke Stakes behind Behemoth, before having no luck in the Toorak. This is a drop down in class and looks a good each way bet.
Verdict: Backing Reykjavik each way at $9/$2.50.
BIG BEHEMOTH!

Race 4 – Benchmark 90 – 1600m
Happy to take on the favourite Right You Are, who may be looking for further than the mile and is resuming after a 16-week spell at the short quote.
Aqueduct ($7.50) has the speed for Willo to get him into a nice position outside the leader, and maps for a nice run at the generous price.
Another over the odds is Starouz ($21) who ran well behind Sovereign Award earlier in the preparation and just went down late last start, and is right in this.
Verdict: Backing Aqueduct ($7.50) and Starouz ($21).
.@jessikate93 continues her strong affiliation with Aqueduct, who beats them easily at Morphettville. 🦆 @TheRacesSA @SAJockeyClub @mhbloodstock pic.twitter.com/oGPjrNHZnV

Race 5 – Queen Elizabeth Stakes – 2600m
Pondus ($2.60) copped massive interference in the Bendigo Cup first up in Australia and steamed home late to just miss out in an enormous run. The step up in trip suits him and think anything above $2 is a good price for this galloper. Damien Oliver on means the Melbourne Cup-winning Joseph O’Brien camp isn’t mucking around. Should just win.
Verdict: Backing Pondus ($2.60).
Wow, Princess Jenni, what a win! In a miraculous performance, she beats home Pondus and Haky in the Bendigo Cup! @Country_Racing @RacingInsider @BendigoJc pic.twitter.com/dqzYaaNYji
