Mornington

Race 6 – Benchmark 70 – 2025m

Lobster Noodles stuck on well at Flemington last start and brings the best form into this race in a wide-open, small field.

Was gritty when winning at Wodonga the start before, and looks suited stepping up to the 2000m.

Verdict: Backing Lobster Noodles at $3.40.

Wyong

Race 4 – Benchmark 64 – 1200m

The lightly raced Cathay looks well placed here up against a fair few plodders, and should be winning this if she is ready to go first up with a trial under her belt.

Has had some early support backed in from $5 to $3.80, and will certainly enjoy the cut in the ground and the kind draw to stalk the leader.

Verdict: Backing Cathay at $3.40.

Race 7 – Benchmark 64 – 1200m

Big Bad Bruce blew out the cobwebs first up and ran on well late here last start, and looks in a prime position to bully his opposition now at full race fitness.

Will appreciate the cut in the ground and is at a very backable price in a fairly weak field lacking any depth.

Verdict: Backing Big Bad Bruce at $4.80.

Ipswich

Race 4 – Class 5 Handicap – 1200m

Boblee was just outgunned last start over the 1000m but was very strong through the line and it looks like the 1200m here will suit.

Hard to go past the Vandyke and Maloney combination, and there has been some early market support with Boblee being backed in from $3.40 to $2.80 at some places.

Verdict: Backing Boblee at $3.10.

From Muswellbrook to the Melbourne Cup, Will is mad about all things racing and sport. Spent countless hours in the backyard as a child pretending to be Glenn McGrath, and has been known to get deadly late swing with a taped tennis ball.
