Free Horse Racing Tips - 13th Jul

Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, July 13, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Long before there were Kosciuszko’s and Country Championships, little towns like Grafton had been showcasing the best of what country racing has to offer for quite some time. Whilst their main feature, the Grafton Cup, is to be run on Thursday, their time honoured sprint, The Ramornie Handicap, a race which boasts such champions as Takeover Target and Razor Sharp on its winner’s list, kicks off day one of the two day festivities this Wednesday and we think we have found the winner for you.

To boot, we’ve made selections at Doomben which for the glass half full types, has a reasonably positive forecast, Warwick Farm which even for the die-hards, is going to be run on very trying conditions, which is proving a tough task. But never fear, just as we did Saturday, we are venturing to this big brown land’s most northern extreme, in Darwin, to once again, find you the winner of their feature race which serves as an all important lead up to August’s Darwin Cup.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, July 13.

Warwick Farm, Race 3 – 2. The Milkybar Kid ($1.65)

He’s going to be short but he looks an absolute lock as the best of the day so take whatever is on offer and multiply it into some other runners.

Made the quantum leap from provincial maiden grade to midweek BM72 metro grade in back to back runs at just start 3 for Waterhouse and Bott since coming across the ditch. And could not have done it more impressively with a dominant all the way victory.

Goes up in trip and cops a heavy track again, two factors that he looks likely to absolutely relish going forward.

Should just win again.

Warwick Farm, Race 5 – 3. Media Starguest ($3.50)

He’s been very honest in his past couple without being able to crack it but we would be silly to jump off a horse that is knocking on the door like this bloke, especially when fitness is likely to play a big part in who wins this affair.

You won’t be this fellow on that score. He is five runs in, the last three at 1550m or further, he’s gone through all ground and raced admirably and even though he is a big lump, I think he handles this going.

I thought they might have pressed on last start but as it transpired they wouldn’t have been able to go with the winner The Milkybar Kid who we tipped earlier as our best of the day. He never shirked the task chasing him home and we expect that form to hold up.

Has drawn wide again here, but with Jones back on with the claim and the horse being hard fit, I suspect they will either serve it up or camp at very close quarters to the lead pair.

Think that style of racing has been his go for some time and it will pay dividends here if they get their tactics right.

Grafton, Race 7 – 8. King of Sparta ($4.80)

*This horse has since been scratched.*

Thin race by historical standards however the race, and indeed the spectacle of the traditional country cups carnival, has been diminished by the ‘pop-up’ feature races we get thrown at us these days.

That said, this bloke is a 3YO Magic Millions Guineas winner and you could probably count on one hand how many of those have come back to contest this. The form out of that race is suspect but if you venture down the list, you do find the likes of Miss Hipstar and Jamaea there, both of which, particularly the latter, are very well performed at stakes grade and this is no way at all any harder than some of the races she has contested.

Absolutely resented the ride first up and the horse, as well as many punters, won’t be too sorry to see Tommy Berry relieved of his duties for the in form Jason Collett. He still closed strongly that day in spite of copping a toothache of a ride early, before he was steered into dead ends over the concluding stages.

Expect a sharp improvement and confidence improves if we get a track upgrade.

Doomben, Race 9 – 16. Sabalenka ($6.00/$2.10)

Strong finish when debuting for the new barn then sprinted quickly and had them covered at the top of the straight last start.

Drawn sticky but sneaks in beautifully at the weights for a late season 3YO filly with a quality rider on board for a race she is certainly up to ability wise.

Some risk from the draw but if that risk is reflected in the price, I suggest a good each way play.

Darwin, Race 6 – 3. Giant Leap ($5.00/$1.90)

Very confident of a result here at decent odds.

He’s been a work in progress for Darwin’s leading trainer and looked the goods when he unleashed a finishing burst to salute first up after a long lay off.

A solid hit out chasing home a high quality sprinter in stablemate, The Captain 2nd up, in a race where he faced the breeze the trip. Last placed runner Dominus who couldn’t tack on that day has since come out and won pulling up.

He looked prime for a win in the ROANT Gold Cup a fortnight later but unfortunately they copped a track that day that was the equivalent of the Stuart Highway and he never stretched out.

The shades go on here, second run at a mile this campaign, and going off times, the track has come back to something more to his liking.

Right up to this and possibly even something better, blinkers second run at a mile, Gary Clarke, Jarrod Todd, plenty to like. Would only need some luck on settling from the draw and he will feature.
