Overwhelmed?

Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Wednesday, August 10, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Some further positive signs, weather wise, at time of acceptances however we expect both Sydney where they race on the Kensington circuit, and Melbourne who once again head to the Sandown Hillside circuit, to both loiter around the middling soft and yielding range that we typically see at this time of year, whilst at Doomben in Brisbane we should be very close to a good surface.

It was a tough slog on Saturday with a triple figure odds winner saluting in the feature at Randwick in Sydney, some well supported gallopers going down at Flemington, and barring the first, not a single favourite saluting at Doomben. Suffice to say we have studied hard and seek to bounce back here.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Wednesday, August 10.

Sandown, Race 1 – 1. Aft Cabin ($2.20)

Some genuine excuses on debut.

Reshod behind the gates, then dwelt coming out, back near last and forced to circle the field. Looked the winner at the 200m before one appeared from underneath who had enjoyed a softer run and it got the bob in on the line. That was on a very heavy track which is always an ask on debut.

Heads to Melbourne where he will find a better surface and that Sydney run should stand up against these.

Doomben, Race 1 – 4. Gadidae ($12/$3.50)

Most of these have a few convictions so we are happy to go with Billy Healey’s lightly raced Reliable Man mare here.

Queensland’s leading apprentice Kyle Wilson-Taylor has ridden a few of these so we are buoyed by the fact he wants to get back on here at just start number 3.

Not sure they wanted to lead last start but were left in front and ran a bold race. She draws soft here from the one, and she steps out to her right trip and gets a claim against a very moderate bunch of maiden gallopers who have had plenty of chances.

Randwick-Kensington, Race 1 – 9. Waikiki ($3.70)

Happy to go with the Waller trained Capitalist filly Waikiki here. She did get a few favours on debut but when you draw well, race tractibly and are well ridden, you are going to get that more often than not.

She draws well again here, James McDonald for K O’Hara is hardly a regression even though Kathy gave her a peach. And the step to 1300m shouldn’t pose a problem after a pretty decent pipe opener on the Heavy 10 on debut.

Number #2 Perfect Thought trialled untouched. Time wasn’t flash but could have gone a lot quicker, and bred for this and further. Worth watching and keeping in mind for multiples.

Doomben, Race 2 – 8. Half Moon Bay ($16/$4.80)

Going with star apprentice KWT again here, this time with him linking up with the powerful Van Dyke stable.

This is your typical maiden for these parts with form coming in from everywhere but we are going with this 3YO Pierro filly who was a beaten favourite at her only run to date.

Basically four deep throughout that day from a bad draw so she can be forgiven for that. Went to the line untouched alongside a stablemate in her trial, Wilson-Taylor piloted there and he has elected to stay on board.

She will need some luck from the draw but you would have to think they press on, on this occasion, and on paper she should just about sit outside the lead and if she lands there, will be hard to hold out.

The danger looks to be the #4 Jukebox Glow who has run into the undefeated She’sgottheboom on two occasions, and was deep throughout and still boxing on in the $500K QTIS Jewel. She was anything but knocked around in a very quiet recent trial.

Randwick-Kensington, Race 2 – 1. Hameron ($3.70)

Happy to go with the promising Waller trained European bred here.

He is two from four, his two defeats coming at the hands of a cheeky Rachel King ride on Main Stage who strung a bunch of wins together last prep, and Detonator Jack who started favourite only to draw the car park in an SA Derby.

I expect he’ll come back a very handy stayer in the Spring and I wouldn’t be surprised if this fellow is in and around some of those conversations.

Always a risk that these European types will inevitably become more dour with each prep but he still has the freshness in his legs, Waller is a master, and the fact they’ve taken weight off his back with Dylan Gibbons suggests he isn’t just here for a look.

Spring is on the doorstep and every win and dollar in the bank helps when aiming at races like the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup, so we are tipping he is ready to roll here.
