We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, May 21, and provided our best horse racing tips.

A couple of Group 1 features this week in The Goodwood at Morphettville and the Doomben Cup in Brisbane but we are narrowing our focus onto the Sydney meet where once again, you guessed it, we’ve got a heavy track to contend with. A little over a week out from Winter, it is hard to see this changing anytime soon, but the real positive to take out of this is that the form should be consistent, which in theory at least… should lead to us backing more winners.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, May 21.

Rosehill, Race 1 – 7. O’Tycoon ($3.90)

I was very keen Wednesday when they scratched to be kept for this so it would almost be criminal not to get on.

The one and the three look the main dangers on exposed form however the one got all the favours second up and draws horrible here, and the there’s no rider declared for the three at time of print, she draws sticky, and gives weight to a colt in O’Tycoon.

He looks really on point for a Baker/King 2YO, he has been excellent at the trials, 1200m Saturday grade on debut certainly an ask but they must like their chances here and must be keen to build a bank to get a run in some feature races further north in coming weeks.

That’s enough of a lead to say let’s get stuck into this one early.

Rosehill, Race 3 – 7. Hollywood North ($6.50/$2.10)

I think the penny has finally dropped with Solar Apex, and as you’ll see, we have tipped him later on in the day. But I also think this bloke should have beat him last start. Simply a case of the Golden Slipper winning jockey being out ridden by an apprentice.

Berry back on here, gets the gun draw, and it is worth noting that both his wins have come on tracks with a 300m plus run home. He gets that at Rosehill as opposed to Gosford last start.

Inclined to take Gai’s on, off that Kenso win which was a scramble to the outside fence and home in 37+, and think the Waller gelding represents great value here.

Rosehill, Race 7 – 4. Hopeful ($5.00/$1.95)

Not so much ‘Hopeful’ here as I am quietly confident.

Happy to take on the Wagga Cup form and really liked this import’s run first up over the unsuitable mile behind the smart Kirwan’s Lane.

He was niggled at to keep in touch the whole way, had a real good look around down the running at the curious Hawkesbury circuit, and still boxed on gamely to hold down second.

No fear about backing a Neasham runner with three weeks between runs or second up at 2000m.

You have to think he has a lot more upside than these, he is very gutsy on what we’ve seen so far, and he gets to a more suitable trip.

Looks one of the better bets of the day and a nice Brisbane Cup prospect.

Doomben, Race 7 – 6. Huetor ($11/$2.35)

Not sure anything can beat Zaaki but I’m pretty confident this bloke can run top 3, so he’s certainly worth an each way ticket if you’re in front late in the day.

Absolutely snagged under a hold out of the machine in the Hollindale, and still managed to chip away ground in a leader dictated affair second up on what is probably not his preferred surface.

I doubt he’s going to get his preferred surface again here, or for a while, but he let down solidly in the Heavy first up, albeit not chasing Zaaki home, but his pet trip is 2000m. He gets that 3rd up, McEvoy sticks. Happy to go with him as our best roughie of the day to give us an interest in the feature.

Rosehill, Race 9 – 7. Solar Apex ($8.50/$2.80)

He looks very good when he gets it right and there’s plenty of reason to suggest he will get it right again here.

Back in trip 2nd up, and down in weight, typical Waller stuff and he’s a slow maturing breed who has been remarkably consistent when you actually look at his stats, even though he is somewhat maligned as being enigmatic.

We seem to spend plenty of time trying to find reasons to back horses, but I can’t find one reason not to back him at close to double figure odds.

Best Bet – 7. O’Tycoon (Rosehill, Race 1)
Next Best – 4. Hopeful (Rosehill, Race 7)
Best Roughie – 6. Huetor (Doomben, Race 7)
