Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, July 2, and provided our best horse racing tips.

It’s the first Saturday of the new financial year, so why not kick it off by giving our wallet a few lengths headstart for the long year ahead?

It’s Caloundra Cup day at the Sunshine Coast which although it signals the end of the Brisbane Winter Carnival, it also means we are one week closer to the start of the Spring Carnival and you can expect to see some of the the stars of the turf, old and new, resuming over the coming weeks.

In the meantime, we’ve got the feature meeting at the Sunshine Coast which includes the Winx Guineas, the Glasshouse Handicap, and of course the Caloundra Cup. Whilst we have winter finals day at Flemington and a solid winter card at Rosehill, which looks set to be run in trying conditions.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, July 2.

Rosehill, Race 2 – 8. De An Andretti ($3.90)

A few things against her here and I’m tipping the bookies will take her on but her trial and her debut win are too good to overlook, and you will be kicking yourself if she bolts in at a silly price which she is certainly capable of doing.

Resumes here off a very long break and has had little race conditioning on account of her niggles, but the time she ran in her second trial was simply low flying. The downside is that it was on the all weather but it is some lengths quicker than they normally run and she put a space on a Group 2 winner in the same trial.

The fact she is 1300m first up (also accepted but an emergency for a 1200m on the same card) is some concern, particularly on a heavy. But her mother was a noted wet tracker, bolting in to win a Group 1 Coolmore Classic on a soft track and master conditioner Ron Quinton wouldn’t have her if she wasn’t right.

Prepared to chance her given her quality and the price they are betting.

Flemington, Race 4 – 5. Hoops ($10/$3.30)

Had plenty of favours when resuming, mainly a gun ride from Oliver, but he responded when asked and was strong through the line, franking some form around good horses last time in which is comparable, perhaps even superior to the race favourite and this bloke is double the odds.

His first up effort was that of a horse with a real will to win. He’s a Tivaci so you can expect him to have matured, and a mile second up should pose no issues.

Worth an each way ticket.

Rosehill, Race 9 – 11. Irish Legend ($7.00/$2.50)

Very good debut where he met the favourite for this race, Wicklow, who was second up and had a 2kg weight pull on him compared to here for only a narrow defeat.

McEvoy had to change course a few times in the straight after he had eased across heels to commence his run, whereas Wicklow came with an uninterrupted passage off his back.

A European import who has sound wet track stats. He’s far from your typical Les Bridge trained galloper, and I was happy to watch him go around last start, but I want to be on Saturday.

Sunshine Coast, Race 6 – 12. Street Dancer ($8.00/$2.75)

We tipped him at each way odds in the Ipswich Cup and he did a great job to hold down third there.

He was never comfortable on the tight, turning Ipswich track and is sure to appreciate a return to his roomier home circuit at Caloundra.

The forecast is ominous so this could be a real battle of attrition at the mile and a half on the last day of the carnival. He showed no signs of shirking the task at Ipswich and has plenty of miles in his legs this prep, so the trip should pose no issues.

Liked the positive tactics last start, and happy to stick with him in what shapes up as a genuine staying test.

Sunshine Coast, Race 7 – 2. Battleton ($2.35)

Looks the one here with no Kiss Sum to contend with. I think that’s the right form for this. Nash stays on board and second go at the mile, both big ticks.

He probably rode it a bit too cool last start and the winner had put a margin on him before he really got into his work. Rawiller rarely makes the same mistake twice.

Some query with the heavy but they all have to get through it and he should be fit enough, and it is worth noting he is out of a Commands mare who generally throw swimmers.

Best of the day.
