Overwhelmed?

We'll message you the best tips for today!

We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, February 5, and provided our best horse racing tips.

Whilst the Inglis Millenium is the feature of the day in terms of stakes money, it is without doubt the Eskimo Prince that most punters will be looking forward to with a mouth watering race that has more than a few subtle hints of Autumn about it.

A quality card of racing across all states which almost makes it hard to believe we are only in the second week of February. This is a sure sign we have plenty to look forward to in the coming weeks.

We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, February 5.

Randwick, Race 1 – 3. Spacewalk ($6.00/$2.10)

Copped a horror draw on debut in the Breeders Plate but never shirked at the task after sitting three and four deep outside the lead, even having the audacity to poke his head in front at the 300m. The end result was being beaten a touch over 2L to Inglis Millenium favourite Sejardan.

Sat wide again but was always in command during a recent trial finishing in good time, just 0.01 outside of Eduardo on the same morning.

The Neesham galloper starts favourite but resumes with no trial and her two wins have come against Brisbane horses and the other after leading on a heavy track on a day they didn’t make a lot of ground.

Worth an each way ticket at odds in the first of the day.

Newcastle, Race 1 – 6. Forever You ($1.22)

Whilst this is generally not the sort of race you would be looking to have a bet in, we are in the business of finding winners and this bloke absolutely screams at you from the form page.

As a rule, you rarely go wrong backing horses on an upward trend who are stepping in trip in these types of mixed Maiden/ C1 races and this girl profiles perfectly. Add in the fact she is a Galileo and given the manner in which she won her most recent start, it is hard to see what is going to stop her here.

Bread and butter odds, but looks an absolute moral. Use her as a multiplier into your other bets.

Caulfield, Race 5 – 1. Paulele ($2.90)

*Horse has since been scratched.*

He is dual accepted and whilst both races have attracted strong fields, this is by far the more winnable of the two and the booking of D Oliver might be a good indication of which way the Godolphin team are leaning.

He rarely runs a bad race this colt and his first up record speaks for itself. Only the one quiet trial into this but that is a pattern that has worked well for them in the past when he has conquered better company than this.

Just hoping they lean toward the easier target and look to pick up some more black type for this colt in Melbourne as he will be very hard to beat.

Randwick, Race 7 – 10. Steel Diamond ($5.00)

She proved very costly for punter’s last preparation and is yet to bag one since being transferred to Chris Waller but she does look ready to win.

Very negative tactics on her first up before she attacked the line strongly over 1200m, then a sound effort last start back to the 1100m. The 1300m looks ideal and she has done her best racing out past 1200m, she has run a couple of nice placings in and around this grade when on roomy tracks, and seems to prefer it wet which is a plus with showers loitering around in Sydney.

She’s just about on her last chance here, but it would be a shame to let her get under your guard at a nice price.

Randwick, Race 8 – 3. Hilal ($15/$3.80)

Without doubt the best race of the day and outside of Magic Millions day it may well be the most exciting race to date of the calendar year.

This field is absolutely loaded with quality colts, many of whom wouldn’t be out of place in a Group 1 Weight for Age race later in the Autumn.

One such talent is Hilal, a colt by Fastnet Rock for Team Hawkes who was best described as somewhat of an enigma before finally putting it together toward the back end of last prep particularly once the winkers went on.

They stay on for this, and although this trip is short of his best, you couldn’t help but be impressed by his recent trial which showcased his brilliant turn of foot whilst also advertising a shift in attitude.

There’s going to be some real stars of the Autumn come out of this race but we think none more so than this exciting colt. He looks well over the odds, and will be motoring late from the tail, maybe right over the top of them.

Best Bet – 6. Forever You (Newcastle, Race 1)
Next Best – 10. Steel Diamond (Randwick, Race 7)
Best Roughie – 3. Hilal (Randwick, Race 8)
