We have studied the form from all races across the country for Saturday, December 4th, and provided our best horse racing tips.
This is the last weekend with a Group One for the calendar year and while we have analysed every aspect of the Kingston Town Classic, here, we have also found five other top bets from around the country! To make things better, Sportsbet are offering a bonus back to 4th at both Rosehill and Pakenham, and our first tip is at Rosehill, so hopefully we come away with a win or some bonus for the rest of our picks.
We have made five selections in total and are confident that we have found you some winners! So, read on below to find our best horse racing tips for this Saturday, December 4th.
Rosehill, Race 9 – 7. Canasta ($6/$1.90)
We are keen on Canasta to kick start our day in what is actually a wide open race. He had absolutely no luck first up when blocked for a run, however he has conditions to suit here. He had never won first up from five tries but the six-year-old seems to be at his best with a run under his belt. From four 2nd up runs, he has two wins and two seconds, plus the rise up to 1400m also looks to suit, considering he has only missed a place once from five tries, with a win included in there. Add in the fact that Rachel King was on fire last Saturday and Canasta looks a great 1×3 play and hopefully we come out with some play money for the rest of our tips.
Doomben, Race 8 – 2. Wandabaa ($4)
We were keen on Wandabaa last week before the Gold Coast meeting got abandoned and we are just as keen this week. The weather up north has meant that the track is still a Heavy(10) and Wandabaa thrives in the slop. She has a win and a second from two runs on heavy tracks, whilst also placing in eight of 10 runs on soft grounds, with three of those eight being wins. She also has only missed the place one from seven runs at the distance, with two wins, two seconds and two thirds. She has also finished in the top two in both her runs at Doomben and there is only 1kg difference between her, at the top of the weights, and the bottom weight in the race.
Ascot, Race 5 – 4. Stageman ($4.40)
We were with Stageman as our best value of the day last weekend and he was very impressive to finish 2nd in the G1 Winterbottom Stakes. He is on the quick back-up and up to 1400m, which may be alarming to some, but given how good he swooped and powered through the line last week, he should be good to go here. He does lose Clint Johnston-Porter’s services but luckily enough, William Pike is available to take over, and we know the form he is in. A lot of these horses are coming out of the Railway Stakes, meaning they are dropping back 200m, and we’d much rather be with one on the up than dropping back, especially considering how good the one on the up was last week.
Ascot, Race 7 – 10. Real Charisma ($13/$3.60)
Before we get started, Pikey on the favourite looks great at $3. However, we are with the other Peters/Williams runner, with Clint Johnston-Porter in the saddle. We went with Johnston-Porter over Pike in the Winterbottom last week and while Pike won that on Graceful Girl, Stageman’s place odds were quite juicy, and that is what we like about Real Charisma this weekend. His place odds are better than Bright Diamond’s to win, and what makes it better is that Real Charisma is 1/1 when 3rd up from a spell and is also 2/2 at 1400m. He also has four wins, a second and a third from seven career runs, meaning this horse knows how to get the job done and we back Johnston-Porter to get him there.

Doomben, Race 10 – 4. Stellar Magic ($7.50/$2.60)
We do like the stablemate, Fetch, who we were with for her win last time out, but this race looks much better set up for Stellar Magic in this one. While this three-year-old filly is yet to be tried on a heavy track, she does have a win and two seconds from three runs on a soft track. She also finished second in her only 4th up run, last prep, indicating that she can run this deep into the prep and can compete here.
Best Bet – 2. Wandabaa (Doomben, Race 8)
Next Best – 7. Canasta (Rosehill, Race 9)
Best Roughie – 10. Real Charisma (Ascot, Race 7)
