Sandown

Race 3 – Perfect Illusion – $4.00

Has been motoring away consistently this prep and only just got run down last start by a smart one in Miyake. Is back down in level to the Benchmark 64 and this looks a lot easier, and is a good bet at the price.

Verdict: Backing Perfect Illusion at $4.00.

Race 6 – Moeen – $9/$2.90

There’s already been strong support for this resuming mare, backed in from $17 to $9 so far and should start shorter come the jump. Had a very nice first prep in the winter and a performance of similar standard should see her in this for a very long way at the each way quote.

Verdict: Backing Moeen each way at $9/$2.90.

Race 7 – Hard ‘n’ Tough – $6.00

It was a sick watch if you were on her last start, with Damien Oliver pulling out a vintage ride to snatch the win on Night Witches. Cops 63.5kg here but the 3kg claim from Will Price helps, and barring another grey coming from the clouds Chautauqua-style, she looks very tough to beat.

Verdict: Backing Hard ‘n’ Tough at $6.00.

Warwick Farm

Race 3 – Invasion Day – $3.70

Outstanding win last start absolutely savaging the line after negotiating traffic in the straight. With even luck looks a very good chance to chalk up a hattrick of wins here against a field of this quality.

Verdict: Backing Invasion Day at $3.70.

From Muswellbrook to the Melbourne Cup, Will is mad about all things racing and sport. Spent countless hours in the backyard as a child pretending to be Glenn McGrath, and has been known to get deadly late swing with a taped tennis ball.
