1 – Montefilia – $1.85 ???

Has been outstanding this preparation and brings the best form lines into the race, taking on and beating the stronger Sydney fillies in her Flight Stakes (1600m) win, before showing off her monster turn of foot against the boys in the Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) victory.

The only question is her price, if you like backing shorties, then it’s very hard to talk you out of it.

2 – Personal – $6.50 ??

Doing her best Tom Melbourne impersonation with a hattrick of second places this preparation, and certainly looks to be in the top few horses in this one. Not sure if she will quite handle the 2500m, and if she has the class of a few of these. Must go in everything and is a slim chance.

3 – Café Rizu – $34

Won a few low quality races in the middle of winter and hasn’t looked likely so far in her spring campaign. Will enjoy the step up in trip and may improve, but this looks too strong.

4 – Succeed Indeed – $35

Never really settled in the run last start and overraced early on, not sure she’s looking for the 2500m, performed better at the mile. Hard to have.

5 – Salto Angel – $31 ?

Looked to have a chance last start in the Ethereal Stakes but didn’t quite go on with it in the straight. Could be in contention for wider exotics players.

6 – Miravalle – $7.50 ???

I think she looks the best value in the race at the each way price. Also brings the outstanding Sydney form down to Melbourne and she hit the line very strongly last start in a ride that looked perfect to keep her ticking over for her grand final here. Looks the one most likely to knock over the favourite and is a great each way bet.

7 – Tyche Goddess – $18 ?

Nearly caused a huge upset when just getting run down at $51 in the Wakeful Stakes last start, and looks capable of running well again here. Is bred to stay and goes in wider exotics.

8 – Biarchi – $61

Looking to complete a hattrick of wins, but they’ve been a maiden win and a benchmark 58 at Morphettville. Would need to step up considerably.

9 – Star Of Eden – $27

Placed in the slowly run Ethereal Stakes that I’m not a big fan of form wise. Happy to be against.

10 – Art Glass – $126

Price tells the tale.

11 – Vilanculos – $34 ??

Placed in the Geelong Classic over 2200m and is bred to get the trip here, and can’t knock the D O’Brien J Kah combination. Goes in exotics at the big price.

12 – Hard Squeeze – $81

It would be some effort winning an Echuca maiden and then winning the Oaks next start. No.

13 – Yatton – $51

Doesn’t look up to this.

14 – Swindon Lass – $151

Price says it all. No.
