Chris Waller-trained the 2019 winner of The Macca’s Run and overall it was a good Melbourne Cup day for the champion trainer. Although he didn’t salute in the marquee race, he trained three winners on the day, claiming victory with Sure Knee, Shared Ambition and Yulong Prince. Finche was his best runner in the Melbourne Cup, finishing seventh, 1.4 lengths behind the winner Vow And Declare.

Shared Ambition won the 2019 Macca’s Run in 2:57.48, which was over five seconds slower than the 2800 Flemington track record. That belongs to Verdant, who in 2012 ran 2:52.40.
