The Nivison is a 1200m Group 3 race held at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney. It is raced with set weights plus penalties, has a prize pool of $200,000 and is for mares aged four and older. The 2020 edition of The Nivison will be run on Saturday, October 24, the same day as the Cox Plate.

The Chris Waller-trained Madam Rouge won the 2019 Nivison from Reelem In Ruby and Ready To Prophet. Joshua Parr rounded out the first four onboard Moss Trip. Madam Rouge went on to finish at the back of the field in the Group 2 Hot Danish and in 2020 won the $1 million Magic Millions Sprint.

Aunty Mary won the very first running of the race back in 1994. Back then it was known as the Tarien Quality Handicap, taking its name from mare Tarien, who won the Warwick Stakes twice in the 1950s.

Jockey Jason Collett has experienced decent success in The Nivison of late, winning it twice in the last four years. In 2016 he won onboard the Bjorn Baker-trained Egyptian Symbol and a year later he claimed victory on White Moss.

Madam Rouge ran 1:09.24 to win the 2019 edition of The Nivison, which was a solid time but not the fastest in the race over the last 20 years. That honour belongs to Quidnunc, who clocked 1:08.52 in 2012.
