The Breeders Plate is a Group 3 1000m sprint held at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney. It has set weights and is for two-year-old colts and geldings. In 2020, the $160,000 race will be run on Saturday, October 3, which is the same day as three Group 1s at Randwick, the Epsom Handicap, Metropolitan and Darley Flight Stakes.
Global Quest won the 2019 edition of the Breeders Plate for trainer Chris Waller. Postcode and Beyliks made up the placings, while Belieber rounded out the first four. Global Quest did not race again in the spring but placed in the Group 2 Silver Slipper in early 2020.

Boniform won the very first running of the Breeders Plate, which was way back in 1906. Since then, the race has seen some great winners, including Gold Rod, Sky High, Sebring and Pierro.
Gai Waterhouse has seen great success in the Breeders Plate over the last 10 years. She trained the winner on four straight occasions between 2011 and 2014.
In 2019, Global Quest recorded a decent 0:58.22 to win the Breeders Plate but it wasn’t the fastest time the race has seen over the last 20 years. The Chris Waller-trained Performer holds that honour, clocking 0:56.82 in 2017.
