The Moonee Valley Fillies Classic is a $300,000 Group 2 race held at Moonee Valley Racecourse in Victoria. It is raced over 1600m with set weights and is for three-year-old fillies. The 2020 edition of the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic will be run on Saturday, October 24, the same day as the Cox Plate.

La Falaise and Fascino ran a dead-heat in the 2019 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic, with a photo unable to split the pair. Nudge ran third for the Chris Waller-stable, while Bonvicini rounded out the first four. After the race, both Fascino and La Falaise took no further part in the spring.

Some strong runners have claimed victory in the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic over the years. Sunlight saluted in 1999, which was the same year she won her first Cox Plate and Doncaster Handicap. Meanwhile, more recently, Mystic Journey (2018) won the race before going on to win the Australian Guineas and All-Star Mile.

Jockey Brett Prebble had great success in the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic in its early years, claiming victory three times between 1999 and 2003. More recently, disgraced trainer Robert Smerdon had performed well in the race, winning in 2014 with Lumosty and the next year with My Poppette.

Over the years, the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic has been run over a variety of different distances. As of 2009, it has been a 1600m race and the fastest winning time since then belongs to 2018 winner Mystic Journey. The Adam Trinder-trained runner clocked 1:35.40 to claim victory over Fundamentalist and El Dorado Dreaming.
