Before the official Blue Diamond Stakes field is announced – many different online bookies will open early markets, or all-in markets, for Blue Diamond Stakes betting. This is probably the best time to bet on your favourite horse, as you might be able to find strong contenders for the 2023 Blue Diamond Stakes at long odds.
Once the bookies release the 2023 Blue Diamond Stakes odds, they usually tend to fluctuate day-by-day in the lead up to the race, especially when we have a better understanding of the group of horses that will be targeting the race, as well as their form leading up to the Blue Diamond Stakes.
Betting early on these markets means you could have the ability to find the favourite at a price of $10 or more, which means if your chosen horse goes on to win, you will get a much higher return. However, there is increased risk with doing this and you need to understand the risks.
Depending on when you put your 2023 Blue Diamond Stakes futures bet on, your horse may not even run but you also won’t get your money back, this occurs when the market is ‘All-In’ or closer to race day. If you are betting when it says ‘Before Noms’, then you have the added security of getting your money back if your horse doesn’t run.

There was a big field in the Blue Diamond Stakes for the 2022 edition of the race, with 16 runners, however Lofty Strike was scratched before the race, making the final field 15.
It was a fairly open field, as was reflected in the odds, as only a handful of runners started under double digit odds. The favourite leading into the race was Jacquinot, at $4.40. On the second line of betting was Revolutionary Miss, at $4.60.
However, it was not Jacquinot or Revolutionary Miss who were victorious in this race. Long priced runner, Daumier got the win, at odds of $20! It was Revolutionary Miss (2nd) and Jacquinot (3rd) who rounded out the minor placings.
With the 2023 Blue Diamond Stakes yet to be run, let’s have a look back at the running of the 2022 Blue Diamond Stakes to see if it can give us any form indicators.
It was a reasonably sized field, with a total of 15 runners taking part in the race (after one was scratched). Punters sent Jacquinot to the barriers as the $4.40 favourite, and Revolutionary Miss was close behind, at $4.60. Unfortunately, it was not one of those two runners who ended up crossing the finish line first.
In fact, it was Daumier, who started at odds of $20, to beat out Revolutionary Miss by 0.1L to claim top spot. Daumier was able to use a favourable barrier (5) to his advantage. Sitting in 6th place at the 400m mark, he was no match for Revolutionary Miss (2nd) or the favourite, Jacquinot (3rd), who finished 0.4L behind.
Daumier had won the Blue Diamond Preview, and finished third in the Blue Diamond Prelude prior to this race. So it was not so out of the blue to see this colt perform well in the Group 1!
