The Blue Diamond Stakes is a 1,200m Group 1 Sprint Race for 2YOs at Set Weights. It will be hosted by Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday, February 20.
The 2020 Blue Diamond Stakes was taken out by Tagaloa, who just managed to hold on to the win – defeating Hanseatic as Personal rounded in at 3rd.
Michael Walker was the Blue Diamond Stakes 2020 Jockey winner, and Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young were the trainers.
The Blue Diamond Stakes is one of the premiere races of the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival, whilst also taking out the title as Victoria’s most prestige juvenile event.
The race includes a Blue Diamond Preview and a Blue Diamond Prelude for both sexes.
The prize pool for the grand dance sits at a lofty $1,500,000 mil, making it an extraordinarily appealing race for owners and trainers alike.
Blue Diamond Stakes Tips
2021 Blue Diamond Stakes Field
The Blue Diamond Stakes is a highly targeted race – and almost always attracts a full-fledged field of 16.
This field is usually split fairly evenly between colts/geldings and fillies; with the pair usually facing off for the first time – considering the events prior are gender restricted.
Punters will therefore have a lot more to analyse than a regular race – from colt and filly form line to lead-up races.
The order of entry is ultimately determined by the amount of prize money which has been earned by each horse. Therefore making for a strong final field.

2021 Blue Diamond Stakes Best Bets
A cracking field of 16 has been assembled to contest the 2021 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, with hot favourite Enthaar the one to beat.
Is she unbeatable, or does The Shark like one at odds to cause an upset? Let’s take a look at each and every runner in the 2021 Blue Diamond Stakes.
1 – General Beau – $6.50 💰
Super professional colt who hasn’t done much wrong, and is suited by his on speed racing pattern and has drawn well in barrier three. Nearly got run down by Anamoe over the 1100m in the Blue Diamond Preview, and may not be screaming out for 1200m. Goes in all exotics but will find it tough to win unless the track is on-pace biased.
GENERAL BEAU DOMINANT IN THE BLUE DIAMOND PREVIEW (C&G)
The big colt has put the writing on the wall today with bigger things to come. Winning with ease in the hands of star hoop @jamieleekah07

2 – Ingratiating – $11 💰
D Oliver has chosen to ride stable mate Anamoe which may give punters some idea of where we can rate this son of Frosted. Should get a reasonable run a few pairs back on the rail, and has beaten General Beau in the past. Has rough claims, the price is about right.
3 – Finance Tycoon – $26 💰
I don’t think the Magic Millions form is much good, but he was well and truly off the track there drawing wide and having a horror run. Reasonable form around General Beau and Ingratiating in the spring, and you could do worse than throwing him in exotics at the generous price.
4 – Pegasi – $61
Has beaten Lightsaber who is running around in the midweeks and was smashed up by Profiteer in Sydney by a long way. Doesn’t quite look up to this.
5 – Anamoe – $9.00 👀🏆💰
Ran home in outstanding fashion behind General Beau in the Blue Diamond Preview (1100m) and should relish the step up to 1200m. Gets the blinkers on here and looks ready to rock and roll. Has drawn wide but should just be able to blend into the race nicely off a hot speed and fly home down the outside.
General Beau…by a pimple.
What about the run of Anamoe!? pic.twitter.com/ZnM6tblK8z

6 – Abseiler – $151 👀
He’s a $151 chance, but may actually have a fair bit of say in the outcome of the race, with the known leader drawing the outside gate (barrier 16) near hot favourite Enthaar (14). He could attempt to cross her or sit outside her and eyeball her for a long way, taking her out of her comfort zone. Has no chance of winning but will be an interesting watch.
7 – Artorius – $16 👀🏆💰
Visually impressive win at Sandown over the 1300m and drops back in trip here. Maps horribly from the wide gate and will have to go right back with no tactical speed. Will be flying home late and could be thrown into exotics with confidence.
ARTORIUS comes from well back to win going away at Sandown. First-crop winner #4 from 15 runners for Flying Artie. Dam an unraced half-sister to Gr1 Delectation. @FreedmanRacing @mmsnippets @VineryStud @blueskybstock @NewgateFarm pic.twitter.com/fb9cqwuF2E

8 – Jigsaw – $17 💰
Will be even more suited if the track suits those on speed, but maps really nicely for a run behind the leaders and will be thereabouts for a long way. Outside chance and worth throwing in wider exotics.
9 – Construct – $41 💰
Never got clear galloping room in the Prelude and showed good ability behind Magic Millions winner Shaquero on debut. Looks overs at the $41 on offer.
10 – Marine One – $51
Gets the blinkers here on Grand Final day which is a positive, but is running into some very smart ones here. Hard to have.
11 – Hitotsu – $251
Price tells the tale.
12 – Dosh – $14 💰
Trainer G Begg has a massive opinion of this horse and she showed improvement in her last start win after being super green on debut and still emerging victorious. Price is about right, so if you’re a fan, go for it.
13 – Enthaar – $2.40 👀🏆💰
Hasn’t put a foot wrong so far and has been super impressive in both of her career wins, and is a deserving favourite. A few question marks with the wide gate, a fast tempo that she hasn’t seen before, and the step up to 1200m. She is the most accomplished galloper here and it’s just a matter of what price you are comfortable with.

It looks like @cmaherracing and @eustacedj are set to have some fun with Enthaar going forward after she kicked off her career with an extremely soft win in the Gimcrack Stakes for @mcacajamez 🔥 pic.twitter.com/Udv95Zjn4r

14 – Arcaded – $17 💰
Won impressively in the Blue Diamond Prelude, but the time didn’t smash the clock and was slower than the boys on the day. Is in the hunt for exotics but would need to improve to win.
15 – Wolves – $81
Wasn’t bad behind Arcaded and has the five-time Blue Diamond winner D Dunn onboard. Hard to have here though.
16 – Ginibi – $101
Would have to start running now to have a chance.
🏆= Big Winning Chance
👀= Must Watch
💰= Worth Including in Exotics
